Kerryth at Spyralle has surprised us all with a lovely gift available for everyone.  She’s been updating older outfits with Omega appliers to replace the SL clothing layers, and has offered the Heliconia Kilau’ea as an open gift to all — no group membership needed for this one!

Heliconia comes with three lovely skirt designs, two versions of a three-tiered design (one of which is pictured above) and a simple single flat-hemmed skirt (shown in the images below).  The skirts are flexi, and swish very nicely as you walk or dance.

Ooooh, it’s that time again –Spyralle‘s group is no longer free to join, and you know what that means – another lovely gift for us!  Kerryth brings us Inkke in the lovely — and exclusive — “Sunrise” colours.  And the dawn is not far off….

Inkke is all-mesh and offered in seven sizes, and is available for sale in seven different fractal-icious colour schemes.  But don’t delay – the “sunrise” scheme is for the gift only, and will not be sold.

One of the things I love about this gown is the lovely cape-like detail in the back.  While it’s part of the gown’s mesh, it’s layered just above, and provides a lovely contrast both in structure and in colour.

And permit me a close-up to show off this lovely honu pendant and earrings from Luminesse.  This was on special at the cart sale at the Wash, but the full-priced copies – in a variety of other agate colours – are an amazing deal.  I went back to pick up a few more!

Lost in the mist

This week’s group gift from The White Armoury is the lovely Mists of Arador.  It’s a lovely all-mesh gown in separate top  and skirt pieces, with optional puffy sleeves, as well as matching bracelets and a brooch at the waist.

In this day and age, I always test first against my Slink Physique mesh body. That is how I feel that I look my best!  I have no problem with the standard SL body, although I’m loathe to use SL hands or feet.

Arador was not specifically designed for mesh body: it features the standard five mesh sizes plus a SL fitmesh size.  I find that the XS fits the Physique body best, while the SL avatar works well with the XXS.

As with many similar meshes, I have problems with the straps on mesh tops/gowns at my shoulders: they sink beneath the skin on the Physique, and are too thin to use alpha zones.  I haven’t shown that here (the rear view shown below is with the standard SL avatar body), but long hair easily hides the glitch.

It really is a fine gown, and a lovely addition to my wardobe.  Mahalo to The White Armory for such a fine gift!

New life for lobster claws

Okay, let me explain, since that title clearly makes no sense.  Heliconia is a beautiful flowering plant, also known as “lobster claws” or “false bird-of-paradise”, and was clearly the inspiration for the fractaled Heliconia from Spyralle.  Heliconia has just been re-released (and hence the ‘new life’) with Omega appliers, and is available at the Secret Wednesday March Yard Sale!  (See how clever that title is now, in retrospect?)

Helicon comes with two prim skirt options – a simple single-layer (shown above), as well as a three-tiered option.  Have I mentioned how much I love prim skirts for dancing?  The updated Omega applier lets me use wear these fabulous designs with my mesh body.  It’s the best of both worlds!

Beautiful batiks

I love a batik print, on cotton or silk – wearing it carries me back to the Islands no matter where I am, even in the deepest coldest winter.  This new release from Solas at Blue Moon Enterprises is just the thing, then, for the dark Februaries of the Northern Hemisphere!  Aisling is an all-mesh skirt-and-top combination in five mesh sizes with a resizeable mesh belt.  It’s breezy and just a little bit sexy!

The racerback top is light and cool in the warm tropic sun, and the celtic knot detail about the bottom hem is exquisite!  That detail is repeated around the bottom hem of the skirt as well.

Solas has given us four lovely batik patterns for Aisling.  The above-shown ‘Rain’ has shades of green and blue on a natural field, while ‘Wheat’ below features more earthy tones.

Along the silk road

When you say ‘silks’, most people in SL might think of swishing gauzy pieces of next-to-nothing, but Spyralle brings us the lovely Silk Road, with this lovely Snow Moon colour scheme as a current group gift.  The all-mesh tunic and trousers combination comes in five sizes, and is an update on her older Silk Road line.  Snow Moon is a teaser for an exclusive version of Silk Road sold only at Fair Play this month!   Both of the updated  versions come in male and female fittings.

A silk tunic and trousers may not be the warmest for the winter weather, but the colour scheme seemed perfect for a visit to the winter sim at Two Moon Paradise.

I changed my hair to the shorter ‘Taylor’ cut by Calico for this rear-view, so as to show off the lovely collar detail.

The tunic comes with three lovely texture choices for the detail, all along the same colour scheme.  I can’t figure out which one is my favourite, but such fun to have the choices!  I had to include three snaps here to show them off, I don’t think a pic of the HUD would do them justice!

I should also make a note of the lovely boots from Baby Monkey, some of my go-to favourites.  They come with a fabulous colour change HUD with 32 colours to choose from!
