Autumn moon

Sometimes I have an item in my inventory that I rather like – but I just don’t seem to be able to find the right outfit to put it with.  It sits there lurking in the background, maybe even prompting the “should I get rid of it?” thoughts when I come across it.

Well, Owl Moon by Spyralle was one of those for me, until a week ago.  Eden was holding our Autumn Queen dance, and I thought of this gown — and with a few ingenious additions, put together an outfit that I can’t wait to wear again and again!

septembermoon_c008

Owl Moon is a lovely mesh gown (rigged mesh in the standard five sizes), and I’ll admit, part of the problem in my inventory may be my love to dance — and the… awkwardness… of some mesh gowns for dancing.  Well, part of that, of course, is to choose your dances appropriately.  Some shuffle-y dances from Humanoid did just the trick for me!

The wreath of daisies from Caverna Obscura accentuates the oranges and greens, as do a fire opal pendant and earrings from Evelock.septembermoon_c009

For the dance itself, I added a beautiful pair of wings from Faeline Fairy — because sometimes everyone needs to unfurl their wings.  Shigeko come in a several colour schemes, but the oranges and purples just seemed made for Owl Moon September.

So, lessons? Go back and look at your inventory with fresh eyes, you might find new and exciting ways to use things — whether they’re old favourites or items you’ve never worn.  And don’t get rid of that pretty outfit just because you haven’t worn it yet, no matter how long you’ve had it!  😉

And go take a look at Spyralle — Owl Moon comes in a number of beautiful patterns!

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Help Support Medecines Sans Frontieres!

SL is no stranger to charities, and Spoonful of Sugar is perhaps one of my favourite so far.  Five sims of shops and activities and events, and the proceeds go to Medecines Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders, helping the sick and injured in some of the most needy parts of the world.

Spyralle‘s contribution is the lovely Kirana mesh gown.  It’s sized in the standard five standard sizes, but works well with my Slink Physique.

kirana_c009

Luminesse‘s Sea Turtle happened to complement Kirana perfectly, in each colour!

kirana_c005

Kirana comes in six lovely colour/textures.  I’ve got three of them here to show you, for the others you’ll have to stop by Spyralle’s booth at Spoonful.   There’s a demo you can try, always a good idea!

There’s more, though — there’s a one of a kind special Royal Batik Summer Gypsy in Torch Light.  This colour pattern will only be available for ONE copy of this outfit, and it’s up for bidding here.  Sadly, I couldn’t convince Kerryth to get me a copy to demonstrate for you  😀  but you must stop by and put in a bid!

Good luck!  Aloha!  A hui hou!

Evening Breeze

As the sun lowers, the cool breezes sweep in down from the mauna, we’ll trade our kinis and pareos for a mu’umu’u or a nice dress…. and Spyralle has a perfect little treat in Five O’Clock.

FiveOclock_c002

Five O’Clock is mesh in the five standard sizes, and has a lovely little flexi piece that fastens at the left hip with a little rosette.  It gives nice little flow to the gown as you walk or dance!

FiveOclock_c010

I complemented Five O’Clock with a lovely necklace and earring set from *N@N@* that I don’t get enough opportunity to wear, but the turquoise and gold works well with the peacock colours.

FiveOclock_c005

Five O’Clock is an older dress, but it fits well and looks great.  Kerryth currently has it in the outlet room at Spyralle, so you can pick up this lovely dress at a substantial discount!

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

The Importance of Colour

It sounds silly — and obvious — but sometimes all it takes is the right colour to really make an outfit come alive for you.  Months ago I’d blogged Esyld by Spyralle – a lovely gown/dress in some very lovely earth tones.  Quite pretty, but… I’ll admit, I never really wore it much after that.  The colour was nice, but… it didn’t speak to me.  Just last week, however, Kerryth put the green version of Esyld on 50L special — and now it sings.

EssyldGreen_c007

  • SpyralleEsyld Green gown/dress/skirt and bustier (who knows?)
  • Maxi Gossamer JewelryShell Teardrop Pendant (short) and Earrings, Sea Green
  • [L.Warwick] – Savannah Ankle Strapped Heels – Noir Leather
  • ProPoseGroup Gift September 2016

I’m still not quite sure whether to think of Esyld as a gown or as a dress.  Maybe it’s really a skirt with an interesting bustier.  The laced back detail is really rather amazing, and it has this lovely little gauzy overskirt in the rear.  It’s all mesh, so there’s no flutter, but it adds a lovely touch.

EssyldGreen_c008

I had been a bit at odds for jewelry to complement Esyld.  My first thought was something nice and angular, lots of curly filigree certainly wasn’t the right touch.    I happened to stumble on this lovely abalone necklace and earrings from Maxi Gossamer Jewelry.  While it’s not angular, somehow it works.
EssyldGreen_c002

It’s a pleasure when you look at an outfit and just think yes.   Sometimes you have to find the right colour, sometimes it’s the hairstyle, or the jewelry, or the shoes.  And then — then you hit that magic combination, and all those components come together and it just feels right.

That’s when these pictures are an absolute joy to take.

Now — I don’t know how long Kerryth will have Esyld green on special, so it’s worth swinging by.  At this price, it’s too good to pass up!

Summer isn’t over!

Kids may be going back to school, and I may be thinking about heading back to my own classroom shortly, but Kamiri is making sure we know that Summer isn’t done!

The elegant design is perfect for the beach… or for an evening out.

Venusia_c002 To top it off, Kamiri brings us not one but three gifts in August, each a different version of the same beautiful skirt and top, each with a two-texture hud.  That’s right!  SIX variations!

Stop on by Kamiri, and check out the lovely gifts and the rest of their wonderful wares.  You won’t be disappointed.

Remember, like aloha, Summer is something you can choose to carry all year ’round within you.  A hui hou!

A little mix-and-match

One of the things that I don’t do enough of is a bit of mix-and-match.  Sure, swapping jewelry around is one thing but I confess that I don’t do enough mixing of separates.  But it is a lot of fun when you find interesting combinations that work!

I was considering an outfit for the monthly bellydance-themed party at Eden recently, and fell in love with this skirt from Bellydance Goddess.   Add a belt, and some beautiful bangles, and what for a top?  Would you believe the top from Spyralle‘s Heliconia Opal?  You bet!

HeliconiaBellydance_c004

HeliconiaBellydance_c026I confess, it’s a lot of fun taking pics while belly dancing.  🙂

Get your batiks on Route 66!

I stopped by the Route 66 Celebration in Mieville to enjoy a little slice of the American Southwest along Route 66!

Kerryth at Spyralle has a couple new items at Route 66, including three new Royal batik fabrics for her lovely mesh mu’u mu’u!
PalmGrove_c003

The mu’u mu’u is mesh in the five standard sizes, with attached sleeves, and works well with my Physique body.  I’ve paired it with some of my favourite go-tos — a plumeria necklace and a plumeria headpiece from Island Style Designs, as well as my recently-acquired honu earrings — also from Spyralle.

PalmGrove_c004For the guys, Spyrall offers matching shirts that look just fab.  But it doesn’t sound as if either the shirts or the mu’u mu’us are going to be in the main store any time soon, so you’d better dash to Route 66 by August 14th if you want to pick them up before the cold weather moves in!

Boho class

If you are a wanderer at heart or just love the comfortable easy boho style, you’ll love the August group gift from Dressed by Lexi.  Boho Culture features an all-mesh skirt with a beautiful lacey Omega applier top.
BohoCulture_c007

The Honu necklace by Spyralle is a second of three versions offered at the Genre:Polynesia event.  You can see a different version back in this post.
BohoCulture_c017VileCult is one of the many vendors at the Epiphany event.  They offer this lovely rainbow eyeshadow with Catwa and Omega appliers.  It’s nice and subtle, and definitely due to become a fave for me!

Some fun items are out and about to be found on your travels, so enjoy!

Rainforests and sea turtles

The sun goes down and as the cool air sweeps down from Maunakea, we think, perhaps, that something a bit warmer than my pareo might be in order.  For a comfortable yet classy appearance, try the lovely Niike from Spyralle.  Niike Rainforest is Spyralle current group gift, and comes in the standard five mesh sizes plus three fitmesh sizes.Niika_c004

  • Spyralle – Niike Rainforest gown (Group Gift, 2016/07)
  • Spyralle – Honu Bone and  pāua shell necklace and earrings
  • [L.Warwick] – Savannah Ankle Strapped Heels – Noir Leather

The three included fitmesh sizes are not Slink/Belleza/Matreya fitmeshes, but I was able to get one to fit my Slink Physique pretty well.  As you might guess, any difficulty lies around the collar and chest.  Fortunately, not only are demos available, but Rainforest is yours free!

Niika_c007

Spyralle has done a lovely necklace and earring set for the Genre:Polynesia event.   Honu (“sea turtle”, in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi)  comes in several colour schemes, here shown in bone and pāua shell.  Honu is strung on a very simple thin cord, I think I’d prefer if it were on a slightly longer leather thong, perhaps, but it is a lovely piece!  I also picked up the koa and mother-of-pearl, which I’ll show off in a later post.

Niika_c005

Niike is a beautiful gown, and Rainforest is free to group members right now!  Stop by Spyralle and pick it up, and take a look at the other lovely colours that Kerryth has put up for sale.  Then go take a look at Genre:Polynesia for the lovely Honu necklace and earring sets.  They’re too pretty to pass up!

Aloha, a hui hou!

A downpour….

A week or two ago, I had the pleasure to share Calista Rain, the first release from Silvan Moon Designs, the new collaboration between Blue Moon Enterprises and The White Armory.

Just as that blog post went to press, Silvan Moon released additional colours that I didn’t have the chance to photograph.  I finally got the chance to take a few more pics, so I just thought I’d share them with you here.

So… four more colours of Silvan Rain — a veritable downpour.  I won’t waste a lot of time with words, they speak for themselves. 🙂

Four more wonderful shades, for a total of five.  I’m just absolutely stunned by the shading, the textures… these gowns are magnificent, and are available in standard mesh sizes plus fitmesh for standard SL avatars, Slink, Maitreya, and Belleze mesh avatars.  Keep your eyes out for more new treasures from Silvan Moon Designs!
