Red Alert

Often the inspiration for one of my mix and match specials is for a themed dance at Sisters of Eden, the club where I DJ. Recently the theme was Best in Red… and while some took this to mean an elegant gown, of course I went a totally different direction… This was one of those instances where a fortuitous “let’s try this” exercise resulted in a rather cool total effect.

The basis for this outfit was a whole slew of stuff: the main suit, boots, top and bra are from r2’s Yuraku outfit, supplemented by arms from r2’s Nowaki outfit and the Electra Cyber Gloves from A&Y (in seven colors, each of which allow recoloring of a variety of material zones for a neat custom look). Over this I added the B1 Cybersuit Fortran from The Original Black One, which has the most amazing looking animated light coursing through it (animation at the end of this blog entry!). The suit comes with 15 colors and with varying lighting patterns.

To this ensemble I added the amazing fire-breathing Neo-Phoenix Cyber Hair from A&Y, available in 12 colors; and the bento animated Sentinel Tail from CerebusXing, available in six colors.

Then it was time to add in the detailing, such as the eerie Elfin Eyes – Freshblood by DurtTrashDurt Zipper, and the ring details on legs and groin from Normandy, and on the breasts from the Graves Mainframe outfit.

Now to really appreciate this in action you need a little video, so check this out!

See why I enjoy mixing and matching so much? You come up with something no one else is likely to have, and make a splash doing it!

Time to go light my fire somewhere, my friends! Cheers!

Moon Dancer

Sometimes one needs to look outside the box to get an interesting look. As my followers know, I am fond of mixing and matching components: a top from here, a thong from over there… and soon you have a new, and unique, look that isn’t just bought off the store rack or MP listing.

In this brief entry today let me show you one such outfit. As is often the case for me the spark was one outfit, or more specifically parts of an outfit. Here it was Moon Dancer from May’s Soul, a gacha seller of fun and cute products. I bought most of the parts of Moon Dancer last year but it took some time to see how best to use it, as it was not fit mesh or Maitreya-sized though it can be resized. So I put on my thinking cap.

The Moon Dancer parts I had were a thong, wrist bracelets with little wings, and little shoulder wings. I knew I had a set of blue and white big wings to match, from Ramp’s Rosemary outfit. So I started pulling in more parts: a feather collar from The Forge, along with their Valkryie feathered headpiece. I wasn’t happy with the feathered boots I was finding, so I used another set of those same Valkyrie wings and adapted to my fave Gothic Lolita boots from Candy Kitten. Finally to tie it all together I tossed in the Baika outfit I highlighted last week, from r2 Fashion.

The result is a winged and feathered outfit that is now more than just what each of the parts were. So with a little creative thinking, you can extend the possibilities already in your inventory.

  • Outfit: Baika by r2 Fashion

  • Bracelets: Azalea by Elle Boutique

Come fly with my sweet friends! Cheers!

R2! (No not the Star Wars robot)

Here we mean R2 Fashion, a clothier with a unique style all their own. R2 specializes in sci fi outfits with a definite sexy bent to them and often with a great deal of, shall we say, “transparency”…

R2’s clothes feature slick metallic textures and curve hugging designs. For the Kagura outfit, I added sleeves from Caverna Obscura’s Wistera Wind outfit.

A bonus with Kagura is this adorable electro-bunny light up tail that gently pulses.

The Kachou outfit swirls around the breasts and adds discreet detailing to cover the important bits. As with all of R2’s ensembles, one buys the individual components, usually consisting of at least separate boots, panties, and tops, and the occasional additional parts such as modesty covers.

  • Outfit: Kachou by R2 Fashion
  • Hair: Tanya 1 by Calico
  • Ears: Angelica Headdress by Ayashi (gacha item)
  • Pose: The Lily Series – Four by an lar

In the Baika outfit we can see the almost plastic look that R2 achieves, making full use of material rendering.

And finally, in the Seiga outfit, we see more of the sharply defined futuristic lines combined with some elegant curving sleeves, and the teasing transparency at which R2 excels.

The number of colors for each outfit varies, but is generally anywhere from five to eight colors. Fat packs are also available which may include exclusive colors as well. All of the outfits are for Maitreya Lara only.

While R2 has their own store as linked above, they are also a regular contributor at the Collabor88 event, where the components of the outfits are generally available at a lesser price than when in the normal store inventory.

Time to suit up my sweet friends! Cheers!

Latex, redux

A few days ago, Blue shared a very.. exquisite… latex bodysuit.  How could I not respond with a little latex dress? This is Shou from R2 fashion, a lovely mesh number in fitmesh for Maitreya, Slink Physique, and Slink Hourglass mesh bodies.

Depending on your modesty level, you may want to add a little thong to this.  The materials on Shou are very nicely done, and fade from shimmering transparent to opaque (nice and opaque right in front where you probably prefer it).  The back is… less… concealing.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t going to get the boots… but ohhhh, they do make the look. Like the dress, they come in fittings for the Maitreya, Slink Physique and Hourglass bodies.

One of my favourite things about SL is the opportunity to visit different worlds.  Insilico is a fantastic futuristic Blade Runner / cyberpunk group of sims, and the builders have gone to great lengths to create the right atmosphere.   It’s definitely worth the look around, but please make sure that you’re dressed in-genre!
Shou_c002Sometimes a shoot just really clickis… and this one was just fantastic fun.  I took a few more pics, and if you’d like to take a look you should check out my flickr stream.  I’m definitely going to have to get back to Insilico to explore — and photograph — some more.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!
