The Fantasy Faire draws to a close this year, and despite being a week longer than previous years, it’s hard to believe it’s over. I’ve tracked quarry across 16 faireground sims, and seen so many things, met so many people… and so many things I know I haven’t gotten to see.
But Fantasy Faire has done something amazing, and you have all done something amazing. The goal was set to raise US$40,000 for the Relay for Life’s fight for a cure to cancers. As of this morning, SL through Fantasy Faire has raised US$60,080 That’s over FIFTEEN MILLION LINDENS!
Fantasy Faire 2019 is here through the end of Sunday.. then the sims will grow quiet, and dark, and fade into our memories. Shining bright is the thought that we have made a difference, as a group… shining bright is the thought of next year…. shining bright is all the happiness shared, in the Faire and because of your generosity.
Truly, from the bottom of this one’s heart, mahalo nui kākou.
I really love the detailing and texturing in this gown. I can see the shimmer in the folds, even in the still image! The oblique lighting angles cast some wonderful shadows that enhance the lay of the gown.
The evening light fades, the belt of Venus girdles the city, and the darkness closes in… but the light that is within shines bright.
<unknown pose> (I’m sorry, I apparently didn’t record this one!)
I really love this aspect of shopping and exploring events such as this. Full-up avatars are one thing, and full-up outfits are cool, but I really love finding things that go with other things and creating my very own look.
There are so many wonderful things at Fantasy Faire, and every one helps contribute to the fight against cancer. With 16 sims, you can always get in somewhere and have a look around. Fantasy Faire 2019 is only here until May 5, and there is SO MUCH to see.
In times of great need, we arise to meet tasks we never thought we could shoulder.
I’ll admit it, when I play D&D or other role-playing games (have you played Pathfinder ACG? OMG so much fun!), I’m always playing the archer, or a sorceress, or a rogue…. never the fighter, never the swordswoman. I just… never envisioned myself that way.
Whymsical Marketplace — Darkna le’ Drageon (eggplant) full armour (Freya/Venus/Lara/Belleza/Hourglass/Physique/Curvy/Fine/Voluptuous/Ocacin fitmesh, S/M/L rigged mesh) at Fantasy Faire 2019 (sword not included!)
This armour set is designed for fitmesh, but also has rigged mesh pieces in three sizes. You’re nearly guaranteed to be able to assemble your outfit from this!
This is an amazing little reminder to leave yourself open to things that might not have originally felt like you. I definitely need to unleash a little bad-ass at various points in RL sometimes! What a great way to channel my inner warrior, even if I probably can’t even lift that sword, let alone swing it!

I’ve had a bit of a bad habit lately of indulging in some wonderful fantasy skins, perhaps it’s an effort to lose myself from all the cold winter that so many of us find ourselves in!
Alia Baroque at Fallen Gods is feeling our need for Spring, and has four beautiful skins and associated tattoos at the Summoning Spring event that are just perfect to draw you back to life, to growing things!
I have to let the skin and tattoo speak for themselves… remove the lovely Daphne dress from The Muses, and just… be bare. The Fleurs tattoo layer has several different variations for male and female avatars and various stages of… revelation. I chose something slightly more discrete for these pics, but you may choose to bare more.
TheWood Nymph skins come in four varieties. I’m showing the Spring skin, with a light and lively hint of green against the feeling of new bark saplings…. through the season the bark/skin tone grows a bit darker/browner and the green becomes darker, to a mossy autumn skin… finally a winter-grey bark colour. Each is absolutely beautiful.
The Summoning Spring event is a small simple affair, but has a number of nice treasures. The faire is only around until March 13, and I fear winter here may last a bit longer than that! Fortunately, the spirit of life and hope that we carry with us comes from this wonderful place within us.
Aloha my wonderful friends and Mele Kalikimaka! It’s after the 25th, but the season of light and joy continues on. There are some wonderful wintery outfits out there for you to find, and I have a few more to share with you. Okay, so this isn’t Olive from the wonderful little children’s book, but it did make me think of her. This is a beautiful novelty sweater, skirt, and scarf combo from Petite Mort available from We Love Role Play !
Petite Mort — Novelty Sweater (Forest) sweater ( Maitreya/Physique/Hourglass/Venus/Isis/Freya), exclusive at We Love Role Play
Each piece is sold separately, and available in eight lovely colours. Each sweater includes a wonderful HUD with a choice of adorable animal patterns for the sweater — or plain, if you would prefer.
The season of joy will continue on and on, but this month’s We Love Role Play will be coming to a close! Don’t miss out on such a wonderful warm cozy outfit!
Lately I have taken an interest in doing clothes texturing, using purchased full perm models that allow one to selectively edit texture faces. While I have pondered selling some of these, which is what most people do who work with the full perm models, so far I have just been tinkering for myself, in order to get unique looks and/or make outfits that reflect ‘me.’ The full perm models are not inexpensive, being in the range of 500L to 1500L typically, as the expectation is that one is selling your new creations and thus eventually recoup your expenditure. However, if the cost does not deter you… follow me on a little path to see what you can do 🙂
For this first installment I will focus on something simple (and very small!). The common component in all of these outfits below is the Angel skirt by Gunshot, which is also a very reasonable 250L. This is a teeny-tiny skirt that really doesn’t cover much at all (which… frankly, was my goal). 😀 Now most people would supplement this with a pair of panties but I chose not to.
The skirt contains three material faces that can each be textured in different ways. They can also be different between front and back but the design of the skirt tends more toward it being the same all the way around front to back. The Gunshot package for the skirt contains models for all of the major mesh bodies as well as four sample textures, a shadow map, and a UV map. All of these latter items can be used in an external graphics program to create your own textures, which can then be uploaded to SL and applied to the mesh model.
In this first outfit, I textured the skirt with an opaque white band around the top, and the two main layers all in lace, to match the lace top and the lace cuffs on the sleeves. This is an example of where I mixed and matched a ton of things, along with the custom pieces, to get just the look I was after, an innocent snowflake faerie (okay, maybe just snowflake faerie…)
For this one I wanted to match the skirt to the top, which is also a full perm model. Before I found the original model, I had purchased a version of it from a vendor who had made her own texture for it. As I liked that shade of blue I wanted to match everything to it, which I did with the Angel skirt and the full perm sleeves from another full perm creator. In this case the top two bands of the skirt are solid, and the small band along the bottom is a lace pattern that matches the lace along the bottom hem of the top.
Top: Kara Top by Vaxer (the full perm model is CBB106 by Cool Big Bird )
Accessories: Good Kitty Collar by The Sugar Garden/tsg; Heart Charm Necklace by Bowtique (Marketplace link); Endear Ladies Key Necklace by EarthStones; Giftwrap Garter and Cuffs by Sweet Thing; Armour Waist Chain and Seacrest Waist Chain by La Sirena (Marketplace store); BoHo Style Hand Jewelry Butterfly by SilveryK
Another vendor who took the Gunshot Baude top and created a nice texture for it is ArisArisB&W, who applied a pretty denim pattern. I created a matching version for the skirt across all three texture bands.
Top: Nicety top by ArisArisB&W (the model is the same Gunshot Baude top as I used in the Snowflake image above)
Accessories: Dragonfly necklace by Pixel Box; Elaine Belt and Garter by Nanika; Armour Waist Chain and Seacrest Waist Chain by La Sirena (Marketplace store);
Arm Harness by L’Emporio
And finally, back to lace, this time with a rose tint and a slightly Victorian look (is not sure the Queen would approve). Here I used the actual Gunshot Baude top with the Angel skirt, modifying the lace pattern from Snowflake to be a little softer in color (as well as a bit more see through… blushes!).
Accessories: Jabot collar by Cog & Fleur; Lolita Lace Cuffs by Sweet Thing; Armour Waist Chain and Seacrest Waist Chain by La Sirena (Marketplace store)
Pose: The Irie Series – Four (m) by an lar (closed)
While these examples of re-texturing have been pretty simple, they’ve been fun in allowing me to make things that are just right for what I want. 🙂 In future installments of Do It Yourself I hope to show you some more complex examples.
Back to Photoshop! More lacy and frilly things await! Cheers!
One of my favorite recent movies was Wonder Woman, starring Gail Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins. It presented a wonderfully strong image of womanhood. There are plenty of Wonder Woman costumes in Second Life, though nearly all are either based on the comics or are just superficial ‘sexy’ outfits. Finally we now have one modeled after the outfit in the recent movie, and it is a stunner.
Dirty Princess has crafted a superb rendition of the outfit, which includes the one piece dress outfit, harness and lasso, arm bracers, tiara, and shield. The matching boots are a separate item. All are for Maitreya only.
Outfit: Diana Princess Dress and Boots by Dirty Princess
The sword is not included, but Poseidon has a nice pose set called Amazon Princess intended for use with just such an outfit, and which includes both a sword and a shield. The shield that comes with the Dirty Princess outfit is nicer looking though so I used it. 🙂
And we can’t have Wonder Woman without an action shot!
I would be remiss if I did not mention that Dirty Princess also includes a second version of the outfit that is sans top, if you desire a rather sexier look. 🙂
Are you ready to save the world? I know I sure am! Cheers!
Wow! Summer classes have been keeping me busy, how much time have I let slip by without sharing? I have a beautiful dress that I want to show you that I picked up at The Muses at We Love Role Play back in May, but it’s regularly stocked in the store now. Daphne is a lovely wonderful little dress, just right for a dancing little fae.
There are 16 different textures available: ten in a lovely paisley pattern, and six in the beautiful leafy motif I’m showing you here. You can see which is my favourite! Say, that’s a bit cheeky….
Both palettes feature the gold lacey midriff section. That part has transparency, so you must make sure that the demo works without using body alpha zones!
There’s always something lovely at We Love Role Play, and the anchor stores (such as The Muses) feature some really wonderful items. Make sure you take a good look around!
It’s time for a little Enchantment, and Solas and Bee at Silvan Moon Designs bring you Iracebeth of Crims, a beautiful new fitmesh gown modeled after the Red Queen in celebration of Enchantment‘s theme — Through the Looking Glass. Yes, yes, you can get it in red – but look at the other pretty colours first!
Silvan Moon Designs — Iracebeth of Crims Gown and Jacket set, exclusive at Enchantment (Maitreya/Physique/Hourglass/Classic fitmesh) (6 colour choices)
The gown and jacket can be worn separately, but work so very well together that I have a hard time imagining wearing them independently. As always, Solas’ fitmesh is perfect, and Bee’s texturing is just exquisite.
I’m really loving the 50 Linden Weekly Specials at Oubliette and Petite Mort! This week Melora is featuring the Onyx Morgana dress I’m showing off today. It’s a light flirty dress in black with a moon-and-stars motif — just perfect for this little stargazer!
Oubliette — Moon Child tank ( Maitreya/Physique/Hourglass/Venus/Isis/Freya), hunt gift for the April 2018 Enchanted Spring hunt at Witchwood
Stop by Witchwood and take a look at the specials. There are new lucky boards at both stores as well. At this rate, Melora will have all my lindens, 50 at a time!
