That 70’s look

As Jaz said, sometimes you find mix’n’match stuff that somehow seems destined to go together.

We had a 70’s soul music thing at Eden yesterday, and this is what I put together to wear to the event!

I’m not going to detail sizes for you today, as I got both the shirt and jeans quite some time ago, but as they are both Lara fitmesh, you can probably guess the other sizes available.

Unlike Jazzy’s outfit yesterday, the jeans clip the shirt in one tiny location on the left hip, but I’d challenge anyone to notice this and call it out, even dancing.

And the hair, OMG!  I got this at this year’s Hair Fair and promptly filed it in my “Misc/Weird” hair folder, thinking I’d never have a reason to wear it.  But does it work well with a 70’s look?  You bet it does 🙂

Mix and Match with Meli

A long time Second Life staple is Meli Imako, a purveyor of full perm clothing items. Most often their products are used as the base for other creators to produce ensemble outfits, adding and changing textures. While that is still their strong suit, recently Meli has been including some pretty decent textures in some of the models as well, allowing them to be used as-is for those so inclined. A very good example of the latter is the Vixen dress, a wonderfully frilly confection:

Vixen is available in five mesh sizes as well as Fit Mesh for all the major mesh bodies, with the hat available separately. Note the Meli Imako does not have an in-world store so all of their products can be found on the Marketplace.

Another good outfit right out of the box is the High Seas Pirate Corset, which is equally at home as a Gothic style Lolita dress. Here is an example of the dress with one of the three included textures, the black:

To add to the atmosphere on this one, I mixed in a chiffon dress held aloft by ravens, from The Dark Swamp. The Meli corset dress is available in five Fitmesh Sizes plus fits for all major mesh bodies and three included textures. And true to the premise that Meli supplies meshes for other creators to adapt, I know that this dress is available in pre-made sets from at least two other vendors: Sn@ocks in five separate colors; and Adris King Designer in an eleven-color HUD. Both use the same basic pattern that comes with the texture set with a few modifications.

Now just because other vendors mod these items doesn’t mean you can’t as well. Here is the same dress with colors I changed using Photoshop and uploading the texture back into Second Life, this time on the happy side of the Disney aisle as Snow White. I added some mesh bows, one for the front and one in my hair, and found nice boots and stockings to go with.

And finally, to show that sometimes just a little bit of modification can give you just what you are looking for, here is the Women’s Cravat Blouse and Corset skirt. I wanted a librarian sort of outfit but one with a little sexy appeal; so I was able to adjust the transparency on the top and add a lacy bra underneath. The outfit is available in five mesh model sizes (not Fit Mesh).

Ready to do a little custom modifications, my sweet friends? Cheers!

Bottom or Top?

That’s ‘pants’ or ‘jacket/blouse’ of course…. Hello everyone! Today I wanted to show off a selection of tops and bottoms for a range of occasions.

It’s summer! And time to be outdoors enjoying the fresh air. Nature beckons with a lovely jacket from Giz Seorn called Trixie, available in eight denim colors plus a fat pack that tosses in pretty designs such as this one. It’s available at the Vanity event. Complementing the light summer feel is a pair of my favorite jeans, Tali from Blueberry, with over 20 single colors, a fat pack, and even a separate leather fat pack.

Club time you say? How about a little bit of purple to shake things up? Returning to Blueberry again, the Bette top is very versatile, with both long and short versions and over 20 individual colors plus a fat pack. The pants are a sweet half-lace number called Toxica from Gulabi, with over 30 single colors plus a fat pack with bonus lace patterns.

  • Blouse: Bette Dress Shirt – Short by Blueberry
  • Pants: Toxica by Gulabi (Marketplace link)
  • Necklace: Endear Ladies Key Necklace and Gypsy Necklace – Black Pearl/Silver by EarthStones

  • Boots: Not Whyte Beaded Laced Ankle Boot by RFYRE
  • Jewelry: Boho Ring Collection by *KATE*

On those days when the sun is maybe a little bright and it’s time for the floppy hat, we can still go with our Toxica pants, here in a light blue, and mix it with another offering from Gulabi, the Noctra jacket, which comes in an astounding 60 single colors, plus a fat pack with exclusive colors. What’s more, the jacket has a variety of different sections that can be recolored in the fat pack with any of the other colors; truly a very versatile top!

  • Pants: Toxica by Gulabi (Marketplace link)
  • Shoes: Celine by Astralia
  • Hat: MI Female Hat by Meli Imoko (Marketplace link)
  • Hair: Valentina by Truth Hair
  • Pose: Sexy 08 by Aeon Animation (no relation to our Aeon!) (Marketplace link)

And finally, when you *really* need to get away from it all, here is the Gulabi Noctra jacket again in one of its other colors, paired this time with the Leather Cult Pants from Aris Aris, which includes 12 colors. For good measure I added the Lola tanktop by Blueberry.

I hope you all enjoyed my little romp through tops and bottoms! Let’s see what I come up with next time, shall we?

Cheers!
