Home

Aloha kākou!  Greetings from the Islands, sending you all my love from home!  Prism Design has the perfect swimwear for me, a lovely tropical-print boy shorts ‘kini for a group gift!

  • GLITTER — Back Pose (Pose Lover event gift)

Eeek, I may have stayed out in the sun too long!  Sounds like time for a nice tropical drink in the shade, sit back and relax and let the world go by.   I wish you all a wonderful day filled with aloha.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Irises

I know, I’m always going on about how nice flexi dresses are for dancing.  So let’s put my money where my mouth is: Eden’s Summerqueen dance was this past weekend, and Paris METRO Couture had exactly what I was looking for with Van Gogh Irises.

I added a bit of jewelery from Spyralle: Summer Leaf earrings, and a new treat from the June 2017 SWANK event: Grow a New Heart necklace in emerald.  Simple, clean, and the perfect complement to Irises.

Now, as you might expect, a flexi gown is a bit complex.  This full outfit comes in at about 200k complexity, and a good bit of that is in the flexiprim skirt.  That’s about as high as I like to go for clothing in SL, but nothing compares with flexi for long gowns to dance in!

Happy Summer, everyone!  A hui hou!  Mahalo!

Second Chances

Sometimes things slip by, a little bit lost in the shuffle.  Florette is a lovely dress that Spyralle featured at the Walk in the Garden event supporting Women for Women International.   While the Walk in the Garden event is over, you’ve got a second chance!  You can still find Florette at The Avenue until June 24th!

Florette features a beautiful little dress plus matching capri-length yoga pants.  So it’s perfect for both summer and for cooler fall days!

The dress comes in the standard five rigged-mesh sizes plus fitmesh for both SLink, all three Belleza, TMP, and Maitreya mesh bodies.  The yoga pants come in both standard layers plus Omega appliers!

It just goes to show, it pays to pay attention to your favourite creators and their notices!   But head over to The Avenue and you can chooose from six beautiful colours!

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

monsterously delicious

Okay, maybe that’s a bit too clever — monstera deliciosa is the scientific name for the split-leaf philodendron, a beautiful tropical plant that can grow up to 10 metres across!  It features beautifully on this little dress from Seniha Originals!

I’m not usually a huge fan of strapless/sleeveless, but this is just too pretty.  It comes in two patterns, a retro style and the tropical style that I’m wearing, and in fitmesh sizes for Maitreya Lara, both SLink bodies, and all three Belleza bodies!

  • GLITTER — Advent Calendar gift pose

I’m a sucker for a good tropical print, but this one is easy to love.  I hope you’re having a lovely summer!

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Swing like an octopus

Ooooo some things are just too much fun for words.  Lei-wearing ‘ukelele-strumming octopi on a 50’s era swing dress?  You know that only could have come from Eclectic Stars!

Swingers Octojam comes in fitmesh for Maitreya Lara, SLink Physique and Hourglass, Belleza and TMP bodies, as well as the standard five rigged mesh sizes.

And a haku lei for a swing dress?  Sure, and Island Style Designs has a host of colours to match nearly any outfit.  I look almost as cute as those octopi!

A splash of warmth

Yes, I can celebrate the ice and snow one day and the warmth and the surf the next — or a couple days later, anyway!  Spyralle‘s lovely mu’umu’u is perfect for enjoying the late afternoon Sun.  And it’s just perfect to welcome Oahu back to SL.  I don’t know how long it’s been back, but this happy little sim holds a place dear to my heart, and I was sad when it closed up about a year ago!

A plumeria for the hair and a blossom on a nice gold chain are courtesy of Island Style Designs.

Spyralle‘s lovely styles and wonderful gifts will thrill you throughout the year.  Stop by, become a member, and enjoy Kerryth’s fine work.  If you’re not familiar with how Kerryth runs the group, Spyralle‘s VIP group alternates between free and a fee.  When there’s a gift offered, there’s a charge, and when there’s no active group gift, it’s free.  You can wait until it’s free, but I have to tell you: there is a HOST of lovely gifts — including this mu’umu’u — available to members right now.  It’s so worth joining and holding on to that membership.  I’m not sure how long the gifts will be there, so I hope you take advantage of it right away!

Happy Monday, my friends.  Hold Aloha in your hearts, it will warm you any day of the week, every week of the year!  Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Ki and kakau

Welina mai kākou!  Aloha, my friends!  I wanted to share with you a little outfit that I’d put together for last week’s tattoo event at Eden. This features a lovely ki pa’u with plumeria lei from ::*) Charmed (*:: and a lovely body kakau from [Ab.Fab] .

HulaKakau_c061

HulaKakau_c053

Traditional hula pa’u (skirts) are made of leaves of the ki (or ti) plant, split along the central vein and tied together.  In ancient times, the breasts would be bare, although modern ‘sensibilities’ put an end to that.  A ‘kini top, pareo, or mu’u mu’u might be worn nowadays.  NEVER would you wear coconuts!

::*) Charmed (*:: offers flexi ki/ti skirts in three different lengths – 30 cm (shown), 50 cm (knee-length), and a long version.  Each comes with a choice of plumeria colours for the lei, haku lei (headband), and kupe’e (wristlets and anklets).

HulaKakau_c048

Kakau is the traditional form of tattooing from Hawai’i.  Kakau often would take geometric or naturalistic lines, and typically represent heritage (family/clan) or personal attributes.  Typically, women received kakau on the face (for fertility), and on/about hands and wrists, ankles and feet.  Full-body kakau on torso, legs and arms, such as the lovely Aroha from [Ab.Fab] , were reserved for the men-folk, but I do believe in crossing those boundaries if I want to.  Aroha comes in standard tattoo layers as well as Omega, Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink appliers.

HulaKakau_c045

Hula, of course, simply means “dance”, but always tells a story.  It is a beautiful form, and if you ever have the chance to visit the Merrie Monarch festival in Hilo in the spring, you will see some of the most amazing hula in the world.

Mahalo, my friends, be filled with aloha!

Oh, and just one more little bit, found on the interwebs:

“The use of coconuts for bras in Hawaii actually goes back quite a ways. Until horses were introduced to the Hawaiian islands by Europeans, Hawaiian kings and their knights had to travel on foot, with an accompanying woman to assist them by knocking together a pair of half-coconuts to produce the “clippity-clop” sound. This is also, incidentally, the origin of “knockers” as a synonym for breasts.”  – cmkeller

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Summer isn’t over!

Kids may be going back to school, and I may be thinking about heading back to my own classroom shortly, but Kamiri is making sure we know that Summer isn’t done!

Venusia_c008

  • Kamiri — Venusia Butterflies, Flowers, and Wild Sequins (2016/08 group gifts for Kamiri, FitMeshFanatics, and Maitreya Gifts)
  • Spyralle – Honu Bone and  pāua shell necklace and earrings
  • Island Style Designs – Head piece plumeria
  • Luminesse — Sea Turtle Purple Agate necklace & earrings
  • The Dark Fae – Boardwalk Flats Skittles (Slink)
  • Chez GiGi — Monaco Gold Evening Sandals

Venusia is all-mesh, and comes in five classic mesh and classic fitmesh sizes, as well as Belleza, Maitreya and Slink versions.  You’re sure to find something there to fit you.

The elegant design is perfect for the beach… or for an evening out.

Venusia_c002 To top it off, Kamiri brings us not one but three gifts in August, each a different version of the same beautiful skirt and top, each with a two-texture hud.  That’s right!  SIX variations!

Stop on by Kamiri, and check out the lovely gifts and the rest of their wonderful wares.  You won’t be disappointed.

Remember, like aloha, Summer is something you can choose to carry all year ’round within you.  A hui hou!

Get your batiks on Route 66!

I stopped by the Route 66 Celebration in Mieville to enjoy a little slice of the American Southwest along Route 66!

Kerryth at Spyralle has a couple new items at Route 66, including three new Royal batik fabrics for her lovely mesh mu’u mu’u!
PalmGrove_c003

The mu’u mu’u is mesh in the five standard sizes, with attached sleeves, and works well with my Physique body.  I’ve paired it with some of my favourite go-tos — a plumeria necklace and a plumeria headpiece from Island Style Designs, as well as my recently-acquired honu earrings — also from Spyralle.

PalmGrove_c004For the guys, Spyrall offers matching shirts that look just fab.  But it doesn’t sound as if either the shirts or the mu’u mu’us are going to be in the main store any time soon, so you’d better dash to Route 66 by August 14th if you want to pick them up before the cold weather moves in!

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Island hope

A lovely little gift from GLITTER to share with you today.  Island Hope comes in two colours, the lovely blue  and another in pinks and oranges.  I’m rather partial to the blue.  🙂
HopeBlue_c004a

Hope Flowers is in two-part mesh, each in the standard five mesh sizes.  It’s got a good fit, although the front hem can play a little havoc with the alpha zones on a mesh bod.  I find I get a tiniest bit of a hitch, but it’s really not noticeable under normal circumstances.

HopeBlue_c007

GLITTER tends to keep gifts up for a while, so I didn’t bother posting a date on this one.  All the same, I’d stop by and pick this up — and look at the other gifts — and peruse the other fine offerings they have to offer.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!
