Elphaba’s Magic

Hau’oli lā Heleuī kākou!  Happy Hallowe’en, my wonderful friends!  I hope you won’t mind me sharing a new twist on an old outfit with you today.  This Death Girl dress and hood from G Field is one of my favourites, and I really need to wear it more often.  But when I saw the new emerald Pure skin from Fallen Gods, I knew it was just perfect for a little Elphaba-like twist.  And if you don’t know, yes, Elphaba is the name given to The Wicked Witch of  the West in the Wicked books by Gregory Maguire.

I believe I’ve found my kindred soul… my head may be just as full of straw, but he’s certainly got a friend looking out for him.

There is magic to be unlocked in books….

True magic lies not in casting spells, but in weaving care and protection about all.  E mālama pono kākou!

Let me please apologise to you all, and especially to Blue for being so absent the past two months.  The semester has been beating me up something fierce, but I hope to be a little more active, at least!  I have a couple of goodies waiting for pics, so hopefully I won’t keep making Blue do all the work!

Have a wonderfully happy week, my friends!

A hui hou kākou!

Pictures were taken at Hallow Manor and at Winterfell.

Spirit of the Deep

Happy Aloha Monday!  The ocean beckons, can you hear her calling?

She looks with longing to home… feeling it always within her… and always on the horizon

You’re probably quite aware of a little affinity I have for exotic skins.. and for the ocean.  Take me to the sea, to the waves, wrap me in the embrace of the water.  Alia at  Fallen Gods has been playing the siren, feeding the call with a series of oceanic skins.  Today I just wanted to share Deep Spirit, a beautiful deep blue skin currently available at The Liaison Collaborative.  It’s available in two different beautiful versions, with the gentle texture of scales.

I’ve complemented the Deep Spirit skin with a beautiful little fitmesh gown from Caverna Obscura, the lovely Siren. It’s just gently iridescent, and the included pearl jewelry is just right for this naiad.

As the sparkling waters envelop you, feel the life surround you, drawing you back to the beginning

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the wonderful sim that I visited for the shots. Las Islas is a wonderful island paradise, a beautiful setting for tropical photography, and a showcase of some really amazing tropical scenery, available at the store.   You’ve seen quite a few of my shots taken there, and will see more in the future!

Quick, before this edition of  The Liaison Collaborative comes to an end, stop by and take a look at Deep Spirit and all of the other goodies!

Mahalo!  A hui hou kākou!

Sailors beware

Perhaps lashing yourself to the mast won’t be enough to save you from the siren…. her song is lilting and enticing, speaking of need and loss and possibility…

Aloha my friends!  We’re halfway through July, which means halfway through the current episode of We Love Role Play!

There’s a lovely host of things there every month, and this month is no exception.  I have a lovely number of things to share with you today.  Let’s start with Pure, a beautiful skin from Fallen Gods.  It’s available in several different shadings, from the lighter blue Sapphire tint to a more darker Cerulean.  I chose Abyss, a beautiful darker pupley-blue shade.  I’ve augmented it with body and face tattoos from Spyralle‘s Waverider (Pacific) outfit — you can see that better in later photos.

Silvan Moon Designs brings you Water Nymph, a beautiful short-hemmed empire-fit dress with gauzy flexi silks to blow about you in the breeze.  Water Nymph  comes in fitmesh for Maitreya and SLink mesh bodies, and is available in your choice of four different colours.  This is Dream, a lovely purple-tinted white.

I’ve complemented this with a variety of jewelry items, but of particular note is the Mare Headpiece from Just Another Shop {JAS}Mare comes with a texture HUD allowing you a wealth of choices for pendants, chain, and star colours.

One last bit I want to showcase in these three images — the Pinnacles photo props from Spyralle.  Kerryth brings you a lovely pack of three different rocky pinnacles that are just perfect for marine images, exclusively at the La vie en pose event!  This is a lovely little event for photographers, full of poses, props, and other lovely things — and a LOT of free gifties!

I set these down in heavy surf off the coast of the Realm of Light, with a lovely shipwreck in the far distance.  I think these are going to be a lot of fun with photos, and will likely have some landscaping opportunities for you as well.

Happy Summer shopping!  A hui hou kākou!

Faerie of the Star

Happy aloha Friday, my lovely friends!

I’ve been playing a lot with exotic skins lately, mostly from Fallen Gods.  I’ve been on the lookout for new and interesting outfits that not only look good with the skin, but perhaps more importantly, that enhance the appearance of the skin: combinations that make both the skin and the clothing better.

I stumbled across such an outfit at this month’s We Love Role Play — the Tengu Precious from Sasheba’s Closet!

Tengu comes with a hud with three colour scheme options (silver, gold, larimar), but is tintable.  I added a little violet to the larimer, and got something that was just PURRRFECT for the Sidera skin from Fallen Gods.

So, the bad news, I just took TOOO many photos… so I’m going to let the outfit speak for itself… as I dance beneath the starry ‘verse.

My wonderful friends, I hope that you have a happy relaxing weekend!  You can still get to We Love Role Play over the weekend, don’t delay!  There are SOOO many beautiful things to find!

Supernova

There was a little story I heard on the social media earlier this week, and with apologies to the OP, I want to try to retell it for you quickly.

I went to the coffee shop and as the barista handed me my espresso, he leaned over and in a quiet voice whispered “Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle”.

Somewhat startled, I smiled and thanked him… and as I turned away to get about my day, I overheard his co-worker tell him “Aww, man, will you knock it off with your inspirational shit?  Nobody wants to hear that!”

He replied “I am NOT going to let YOU dull my sparkle!”

With that in mind… here is a little bit of sparkle!

  • Mishmash FusionNyota Supernova minidress (Feya/Isis/Venus/Lara/Hourglass/Physique/eBody Curvy/eBody Classic/Altamura Sophia/Standard fitmesh)
  • Fallen GodsOpal Laguna skin
  • Evelock Celtic Sheaf Lapis Lazuli Necklace & Earings
  • [L.Warwick] — Savannah Ankle Strapped Heels (Noir Leather)
  • an lar [poses]The Irie Series – Two pose

Happy aloha Friday, my friends!  You’ve made it to the weekend!  How about something slink and sparkly and shimmery, perfect for going out to a little interstellar dancing?  I’d been looking for the right thing to wear with the beautiful Opal Laguna skin from Fallen Gods.  When I saw Mishmash Fusion‘s Nyota Supernova dress at the Sci-Fi con a couple weeks ago, I just knew it was perfect.  I didn’t get the chance to share it with you before now, but it’s the perfect opportunity!

It’s no surprise to anyone who knows me how much I like opal.  The skin has the most beautiful opalescent highlights and I just couldn’t pass it up.  When I saw Nyota Supernova, I knew it was just the perfect complement.  The dress is overall black, with green and blue texture highlights that are a wonderful match to the skin.  Better yet, the cutouts reveal a lot of the opalescent highlights without being completely bare!

Happy Aloha Friday, everyone!  I wish you a safe and relaxing weekend!  Show off your sparkle!

Fantasy Faire 2019: A piece of a rainbow

Consider this a ‘thank you’.  While I have a little stockpile of shots of the Fantasy Faire sims that I will post to flickr here over the next few days, this is probably the last set of product shots from the faire, the lovely petite from Fallen Gods that I picked up on the very last official day of the Faire.

This little one is the Garden Sprite from Fallen Gods.  Alia uses the Yabusaka petite as a base, and adds a skin with normal and PG versions, and a HUD with 6 facial/makeup variations.

Garden Sprite was a special for the Fantasy Faire, and to be honest, I’m not sure if we’ll see it in the shop or not.  But I couldn’t resist showing this, because to me, she is a little sparkle of sunshine, a dewdrop on an orchid.

Garden Sprite appears to be based off of Fallen GodsEvolution series of skins, but the beautiful blue base is not available as a normal skin for normal avis at this point.  Mind you… I would love to be able to wear this on my normal avi!  Garden Sprite is complete, with hair and a little mesh bikini.  I swapped out for my own hair — this is Athena from Truth Hair, the unrigged/resizable version.  It works just perfectly.

Sprits’s wings are, unfortunately, unscripted.  They’re wonderfully textured with just the right hint of translucence.  I need to see if I can drop an animation script in there for a little flutter!

This little one is a piece of the rainbow, light diffracted and shining, a little bundle of colour… mischievous, laughing, hiding… sparkling.

As of yesterday, the tally for Fantasy Faire 2019 is just over L$17 million.  That’s USD$68,000.  Just… WOW.  People have come together from around the world to shop, to share, to support.  Maybe you weren’t thinking about the fight against cancer, and maybe you were.  Maybe you thought “well, I shouldn’t, but it’s for a good cause”… and you did.

On behalf of all of us, mahalo nui.  Thank you for everything!

Fantasy Faire 2019: Sundown

A goddess reborn in a city of gold, a living light upon an azure sea.

You may remember this skin from an earlier post, but when I saw the golden Marigold gown that Moonlitecat Creations was featuring for Fantasy Faire 2019, I knew that it would be perfect matched with Fallen Gods‘ water-gold Chronos skin.  And it works out well, Fallen Gods is featuring Chronos at the Faire as well!

I really love the detailing and texturing in this gown.  I can see the shimmer in the folds, even in the still image!  The oblique lighting angles cast some wonderful shadows that enhance the lay of the gown.

The evening light fades, the belt of Venus girdles the city, and the darkness closes in… but the light that is within shines bright.

  • <unknown pose>  (I’m sorry, I apparently didn’t record this one!)

I really love this aspect of shopping and exploring events such as this.  Full-up avatars are one thing, and full-up outfits are cool, but I really love finding things that go with other things and creating my very own look.

There are so many wonderful things at Fantasy Faire, and every one helps contribute to the fight against cancer.  With 16 sims, you can always get in somewhere and have a look around.  Fantasy Faire 2019 is only here until May 5, and there is SO MUCH to see.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Eclipse

I think that one of my favourite gifts of SL is that it lets me experiment with different personas.  It lets me explore different looks (what would I look like blond?  eeep no). But on the larger sense, what if you could put yourself in another’s skin?  (NO, NOT IN A CREEPY WAY! OMG)

I’ve always loved being a fae in the world… and more recently in the past year or two, a neko… and more recently playing with the most wonderful exotic skins from Fallen Gods.

Beyond the appreciation for a beautiful skin, what does it mean?  I think it’s a chance to see the parts of you that you keep inside, that you don’t let the outside world see… maybe the parts you don’t let yourself see.  The cracks, the breaks, the broken… and the brilliant.

  • Fallen GodsLumina Eclipse skin
  • Ally Adventure — Artemis Chain Mail skirt and top (black) (Freya/Isis/Venus/Maitreya/Physique/Hourglass/Standard fitmesh) (Marketplace Link)
  • Luanes World — Try to forget you pose

For all of this introspection, what have I learned?

I think a little bit back to the solar eclipse of 2017.  It was the first solar eclipse I’d seen, and I drove hours and hours to get to a place to see it.  I wasn’t disappointed.  A minute and a half of totality… and a lifetime shift in perspective.  All of a sudden… the world felt different… the view of the solar corona, the strange feel of a chill in the air on a humid hot summer day…. a world revealed in the dark.

I think, for me, that every avatar, every look…  is a little slice of what’s inside.  Dark, hopeful, despairing, joyful, twisted, flirty, cross… shining.  Every bit is a part of me, and every bit celebrated.

Even the pain-in-the-butt bits.  (NO, NOT THAT WAY, OMG!)

Happy Aloha Friday, my lovely ones.  For all the pain and hardship, you are beautiful.  I believe in you.

Mahalo!  A hui hou kākou!

waiting for spring

I’ve had a bit of a bad habit lately of indulging in some wonderful fantasy skins, perhaps it’s an effort to lose myself from all the cold winter that so many of us find ourselves in!

Alia Baroque at Fallen Gods is feeling our need for Spring, and has four beautiful skins and associated tattoos at the Summoning Spring event that are just perfect to draw you back to life, to growing things!

I have to let the skin and tattoo speak for themselves… remove the lovely Daphne dress from The Muses, and just… be bare.  The Fleurs tattoo layer has several different variations for male and female avatars and various stages of… revelation.  I chose something slightly more discrete for these pics, but you may choose to bare more.

TheWood Nymph skins come in four varieties.  I’m showing the Spring skin, with a light and lively hint of green against the feeling of new bark saplings…. through the season the bark/skin tone grows a bit darker/browner and the green becomes darker, to a mossy autumn skin… finally a winter-grey bark colour.  Each is absolutely beautiful.

The Summoning Spring event is a small simple affair, but has a number of nice treasures.  The faire is only around until March 13, and I fear winter here may last a bit longer than that!  Fortunately, the spirit of life and hope that we carry with us comes from this wonderful place within us.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Fantasy Faire 2018 — Spyralle’s Ageless Clock

One last treasure for the 2018 Fantasy Faire before it ends this weekend: the Ageless Clock from Spyralle.

As Kerryth writes:

This intriguing machine keeps time according to a system no longer known. An intricate gear mechanism turns, and at intervals a hidden bell sounds and an image takes form on the front of the object and then fades away. After a cycle of four bells and four different images, the cycle starts over again. Meanwhile, a light pulses. Is it a signal? Is it a message? No one knows.

The Ageless Clock is defaults to a large size and 7LI, but it’s resizable.  It shrinks down to a 4LI tabletop version seen below, perfectly at home on a mantlepiece or lost amidst the clutter of your laboratory.

Fantasy Faire is slipping into its final few days: the faire closes on Sunday, April 29.  If you haven’t been, you really owe it to yourself to visit — I don’t know how the creators build such a marvelous set of sims for only ten days.  And what should be foremost, it’s a wonderful opportunity to support Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

Please stop on by Spyralle at the Fantasy Faire, and support the cause!

For details on my outfit, Chronos, from Fallen Gods, please see the original blog post here.
