Well, no, they’re not sparrow’s wings, and okay, I know that Blue shared this outfit some long while back, but I borrowed it from her and paired it with some new wings from Material Squirrel for a themed party.  I had to take a few shots, and I really wanted to share a few with you for a LotD.

The Sofiel wings are flexi, not mesh.  There’s a wonderful HUD for control, and they flutter nicely.  Now — I have quite a few flexi butterfly-type wings, and they’re great.  Feathered wings are a little more difficult — you expect them to have more depth, a little more heft.  So, I’ll tell you right up that that’s lacking, and when you happen to catch a wing edge-on it looks a bit silly.  That said, there isn’t a good inexpensive flexible alternative (there are plenty of rigid mesh feathered wings, but they do not move.  These are an excellent middle-of-the-road alternative: reasonably priced, good for costumes (or just when you feel particularly light-of-wing) — and they look good!

Ohhhh, but how could I not?

Gypsy is all mesh and comes in the standard five sizes (XXS to L) plus Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink fitmesh!  Have I mentioned lately how much I love mesh body fitmesh clothing?  I’m fairly sure that it’s the best thing to hit SL since pose balls.

Ooooh, it’s that time again –Spyralle‘s group is no longer free to join, and you know what that means – another lovely gift for us!  Kerryth brings us Inkke in the lovely — and exclusive — “Sunrise” colours.  And the dawn is not far off….

Inkke is all-mesh and offered in seven sizes, and is available for sale in seven different fractal-icious colour schemes.  But don’t delay – the “sunrise” scheme is for the gift only, and will not be sold.

One of the things I love about this gown is the lovely cape-like detail in the back.  While it’s part of the gown’s mesh, it’s layered just above, and provides a lovely contrast both in structure and in colour.

And permit me a close-up to show off this lovely honu pendant and earrings from Luminesse.  This was on special at the cart sale at the Wash, but the full-priced copies – in a variety of other agate colours – are an amazing deal.  I went back to pick up a few more!

Hmm, does anyone but me hear the slowing voice of HAL when they read those words?

Blue Moon Enterprises offers the exclusive Dazie at the April Fair Play.   Dazie definitely evokes a more elegant age, but is perfectly appropriate with a steampunk theme or just as a casual long dress.

Dazie is available in three colour schemes, purple, amber, and teal.  The umbrella is available in the Fair Play Gacha game, and comes with a colour-change HUD to select between the different detail colours.

Kudos to Solas for her adoption of fitmesh for the mesh bodies!   I can’t get over how easy it has become for the customer to get the layered look of mesh with a great fit.  I think I’m becoming spoiled.

According to the Urban Dictionary,  apparently “Kristie” means “totally gorgeous”.  That’s appropriate enough: one of Carrie’s Lingerie‘s new releases for you this month is the lovely Kristie, in Omega appliers as well as standard SL layers.

Soft like a bunny

So, for your holiday trivia, no one seems to know exactly why rabbits are associated with the Christian Easter tradition.  Neo-pagans point to an old Germanic goddess Ēostre, who supposedly was associated with rabbits… and eggs… and whose name and traditions were hijacked.  Others are quite quick to claim that the only evidence for Ēostre comes from one mention by the Venerable Bede, and there’s no sign of rabbits or eggs in that story, and it’s just the neo-pagans trying to debase Christianity.  Mind you, they don’t seem to have an answer for the origin of rabbits or the name Easter, either, apparently.

Regardless of your spring tradition, Carrie’s has re-released Bunnie, a lovely little piece just perfect for your celebrations, whatever they might be!

Suited for the Valley Isle

Beautiful Maui, the Valley Isle.  Also, beautiful Maui, newly updated from Dressed by Lexi!  I’ve had the Maui in ‘Ocean’, a beautiful blue and green batik design since it first came out, but it was released  shortly before Lexi started releasing clothing in Omega appliers.

Maui_c035Maui comes in standard appliers with two different length flexi-prim skirts — a short one making a nice breezy dress perfect for the casual affair (dancing!), and an ankle-length one for an elegant evening gown.  The Omega appliers are sold separately, so those of us who have already purchased Maui can upgrade for a pittance.

And if you haven’t purchased Maui yet?  Lexi has place the entire line (all six colour/textures) on sale for the next week as part of Fifty5 Thursday!  I had to pick up the purple Ginger.

It’s interesting shooting lingerie – a different style of photo than I typically have been taking.  It’s fun — and expanding — to do something different for a change!
