My friend Kat showed me New Berlin today, specifically the German Newbie Center.  I’m not much of a fan of the word “newbie”, I prefer “newcomer”, it sounds much more welcoming!

The reason Kat wanted me to visit is because the GNC has a stack of FREE clothes to help newcomers get started!  Both guys and girls will find some great starter outfits here.

I grabbed a dress and some heels to show you at least one of the outfits you can easily create.  The dress is sized for Lara, Venus, Physique, none of which I expect a newcomer to have.  But it also comes with fitmesh versions for the five standard mesh sizes including an alpha, so that will fit a classic avatar right away.  A good idea might be to include a notecard with a pointer to the standard body size information, and an explanation of the sizes.

The heels are called “Ribbon High Heels Black” which is super confusing, and they are really mids (at least they are on Maitreya).  I prefer Slink as you probably know, but I use Lara’s mid feet because I only have a very small collection of mid high shoes.  The shoes are in sizes for Maitreya, Slink, Belleza, and Ocacin.  Again, a newcomer would hardly be expected to have any of these, so fortunately it comes in a size to fit Map feet too, which are FREE on marketplace.  Again, a notecard would go a long way to helping someone new to SL.

The GNC is worth a visit if you’re a newcomer, or helping one out!

The bodysuit is sized to fit Lara, Curvy, Freya, and Hourglass.  Also included in the pack is a blouse which in reality is the bodysuit missing the lower half 🙂

The outfit has some minor clipping issues in poses above the hips, so may be difficult to correct with alpha cuts, but you could easily do a custom alpha for it and wear it with BoM.

Aloha kākou! One more post for the Cyber Fair.

I’m not sure that I’ve saved the best for last, I’ve got three wonderful new outfits that I just adore from my spree at the CYBER Faire (open from March 4 to March 24, 2021).

Alika is a new offering from The Forge, and I fell in love with it right away. I’ve paired it with the jacket from ….. Alika’s bare arms are definitely sexy, but I like the more utilitarian look with the jacket. Okay, yes, before you say anything, I know that the cutouts at the flanks and groin are … probably not the most utilitarian. What can I say? I believe in a sexy utilitarian aesthetic! I’m really happy that The Forge is supporting the Maitreya Petite add-on in addition to Lara and Legacy and Legacy Perky. A&Y’s Thrasher jacket is Lara and Legacy only, no petite, but since it’s open, it doesn’t really matter — it works great here.

I really love wearing exotic skins, and I completely love to put together outfits that make the best use of them. Here I’m wearing Psy Astrolight (cerulean) from Fallen Gods. I really love blues and purples, and it just seemed to work perfectly with the “oil” texture on Alika. Again, I’m featuring the Dext hair from A&Y and the beautiful Celestial face tatto from .::Nefekalum::... Does reusing elements get old? Perhaps, but I really love this hair, and the face tattoo makes a wonderful statement.

This lacy lingerie is a recent group gift from Elegance Boutique.  Their group is FREE to join, and they have a number of past group gifts available.

The bustier and panties are separates and they’re sized to fit Lara, Lara Petite, Freya, Isis, Venus, Hourglass, Physique, Legacy, and Kupra.  As they only come in bright red, I found the hair dye 🙂

While I didn’t do anything for St Patrick’s day, I noticed that Kaithleen’s have a little shamrock inspired hunt going on in-store.  I picked up this lovely brocade corset there for L$5!

It’s sized to fit Lara, Lara Petite, Hourglass, Freya, eBody Curvy, Legacy, and Legacy Perky.  And while it says “Green” in the title, it comes with a twenty color HUD that you can used to change the main fabric, and the top and bottom frills to your liking, and change the metal eyelets on the corset lacing at the back to one of four metals!

Aloha kākou! My how the week has flown!

I mentioned that I had found some wonderful goodies at the CYBER Faire (open from March 4 to March 24, 2021). I have to share another with you. The Atomy bodysuit from A&Y Bunker CyberShop is a sexy sleek little number. I really love the combination of covered shoulders/arms… and a high french-cut at the legs. There’s just something really appealing to me about that combination!  Atomy is available in a number of base colours for the Maitreya and Legacy bodies, and has a HUD to change detail colours and glow levels.  There’s also a fatpack available.

The bodysuit looks great in high boots or completely bare legs. I tried with some little ankle boots from GRAVES, but the outfit felt too unbalanced. I finally found this wonderful set of leggings from A&Y. If you know me, you know I like bare feet, so this really just kinda felt perfect — giving some pleasant balance to the bodysuit, but without the thigh-high boots (that I personally am not so fond of wearing, even though I think that they look great). The Electra legwarmers don’t have glow elements like bodysuit does, but they otherwise seem to match and complement the bodysuit quite well.

Her skin is one of my favourites — Expanding Universe (Chaos) from Fallen Gods. This is the perfect kind of outfit to show it off, and you can see that I’ve added some specular shinies from Stargazer and the beautiful Celestial face tattoo from .::Nefekalum::.., which I featured previously.

Completing our look is the Synchronicity helmet from .:Bison:. in purple and the Vyper Katana from The Forge. I really love the look of the Synchronicity helmet de-rezzed/retracted here.

Another FREE gift has appeared at the Orsy Event!  You need to join the event’s FREE group to get it.

It’s sized to fit Lara, Hourglass, Physique, Freya, Isis, eBody, eBody Curvy, Altamura, and Tonic (Fine, I’m guessing).  There’s a multi-color scheme HUD included, although all the textures are as transparent as this, so you’ll need to be careful not to stray onto a G rated beach 🙂

Wetsuit

I needed a better wetsuit for sailing, as the one I had was BoM which I made for myself ages ago.  I hunted around and found this one.  This suit is L$250 at CLBlue.

There are two sizes for Lara in the pack, a standard fit and one for slim arms.  Also included are fits for Freya, Isis, Slink Hourglass, and a one-size-fits-all fitmesh for classic avatars.  The suit is modify, and the creator has supplied the AO and UV maps, so you can texture to your heart’s content.  There are also some example colors in there too, green, aqua, and black (shown).

The fit for Lara requires some substantial work with alphas to hide poke through.  So much alpha that this may be the first Lara outfit that I’ll sit down and take the time to make an auto-alpha wearable to go with it.  If you don’t know what that means, let me explain.  You can get a free script at the Maitreya store.  If you drop it in an object and tell it which alpha cuts to apply, it will automatically alpha your bod when you wear it, and un-alpha them when you take it off.  Normally, you’d create a transparent sphere or something and wear that with the outfit, but because this is modify, I can drop the script right in the wetsuit.  That will certainly save some time when getting changed!

All in all, this is a very nice looking suit making great use of materials.  Considering you get a mod kit with it, it’s definitely value for money.
