Bend with the breeze

The latest from Silvan Moon Designs is the lovely Willow Spirit, an all-mesh dress evoking the art nouveau style.  Willow Spirit comes in five colours, so a bunch of pictures for you today!

Each colour comes with its own matching headband.

As with other Silvan Moon products, Willow Spirit comes in the standard five mesh sizes plust Maitreya, Belleza, and Slink fitmesh!

It’s not news, perhaps, that a long mesh gown has something of a limited use to someone who really likes to dance.  But Willow Spirit just keeps growing on me, and I find myself wearing it just for fun.  This is one beautiful outfit that is a perfect addition to my wardrobe.  Keep up the good work, Silvan Moon!

Layered

Aeon is the one for medieval themed costumes, but as we were at a photo shoot together the other day, I so admired the site that I had to get into the spirit of things.  So I rummaged in my closet and came up with this lovely layered gown.

medieval layered_002

The layered top and long dress are both rigged mesh in standard sizes, and was a hunt gift, unfortunately not available at the creator’s marketplace store.

I particularly like the buttoned detail at the back.

Something new

Okay, that’s a silly title, perhaps, for a blog that spends so much time on new fashion in SL.  But here “something new” doesn’t just refer to this lovely group gift from Petite Mort!
Malliot_c009

  • Petite Mort — Tiedye Maillot (Group gift, 2016/07)

Tiedye Maillot is comes in standard sizes, plus Slink, Maitreya, and standard fitmesh.  I love fitmesh, and Petite Mort‘s does not disappoint.

Malliot_c010

You see, I had not heard the word “maillot” before, so I had to go and look it up.  It turns out it’s another name for a tank suit, or one-piece swim suit.  Who knew?  Well, plenty of people, but for me, it was something new.   What really caught my eye was the wikipedia article, which reported that a ‘tank suit’ is so called because it was a suit to wear in a swimming tank — i.e., a swimming pool.

Malliot_c004And a tank-top?  According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, a tank top is named for a tank suit — named for the pool in which you’d use it.  And that’s something else that I didn’t know.

Now, don’t you feel smarter?  Good, then go over to Petite Mort, because their goodies are gorgeous.

Hey, this is my one-hundredth post!  How about that?   Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Butch?

I’m not too butch, I’m just what you see is what you get 🙂  But I do like tank tops, and this one from Sn@tch is pretty cool for applier clothing.  It comes in system and has Omega appliers, and a HUD with eight colours to let you match it with nearly anything.  And it’s a FREE gift at the Sn@tch store!

Island hope

A lovely little gift from GLITTER to share with you today.  Island Hope comes in two colours, the lovely blue  and another in pinks and oranges.  I’m rather partial to the blue.  🙂
HopeBlue_c004a

Hope Flowers is in two-part mesh, each in the standard five mesh sizes.  It’s got a good fit, although the front hem can play a little havoc with the alpha zones on a mesh bod.  I find I get a tiniest bit of a hitch, but it’s really not noticeable under normal circumstances.

HopeBlue_c007

GLITTER tends to keep gifts up for a while, so I didn’t bother posting a date on this one.  All the same, I’d stop by and pick this up — and look at the other gifts — and peruse the other fine offerings they have to offer.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Bubblegum giggles

This is really not me, but in the interest of diversity lol…

bubblegum_001

This truly kawaii outfit is from Etchaflesh and has been on the Midnight Mania boards for quite some time.  Apparently, it will never be sold in the store, so if you want a copy, you better slap 🙂

bubblegum_002

The vest is a separate piece and is layered over a mid sleeve dress.  Both of them are in mesh standard sizes and there are fitmesh for Venus, Freya, Isis, and Slink Physique.  The thigh heigh socks are also fitmesh and in addition to the bodies already listed, there’s a version for Maitreya as well.

A Queen for the Desert

Moonlitecat Creations brings us Hatshepsut, a lovely gift in mesh, suitable for any desert oasis.

Hatshepsut_c056

Hatshepsut_c045

Hatshepsut comes in the standard mesh sizes, and fits pretty nicely.  The skirt is mesh, but dances awfully well for long mesh.

Hatshepsut_c054

Incidentally, Hatshepsut is thought to have been the longest-reigning female pharoah of the Egyptian New Kingdom (ca 1500 BCE), reigning for twenty-one years after the death of her husband, Thutmose II.  She served as king, not queen, having herself depicted on monuments with the male pharonic beard and kilt, and rather devoid of female body shape.  Some twenty years after her son, Thutmose III, took the throne, he moved to eradicate her monuments and her name from history — apparently in a move to consolidate his political power.

So, there you go, something new to learn!  There’s a lovely article by National Geographic here.

Stop on by Moonlitecat Creations today!  The group join is free, and their styles are fantastic!

Sonya

This is a marvellous little fitmesh dress from FAC as the July group gift.  FAC is FREE to join, so there’s nothing from stopping you running and grabbing this now!

sonya_001

The dress comes in standard mesh and fitmesh sizes and also has fitmesh sizes for Maitreya, Belleza, and Slink.

The floral detail on the sleeves is very well done!

A View of Skye

A dear friend recently introduced me to Arwen’s Creations, a prolific medieval-themed merchant in SL.  Skye is a lovely Scots-inspired gown in a brilliant green tartan.

Skye_c002

Skye has been updated to include Omega blouse and glove appliers to accompany the fitmesh gown and rigged mesh scarf and sleeves.  This outfit has a tonne of options – including opaque and sheer veils as well as several different trim options on the blouse and a colour-change HUD for the gloves.

Skye_c001

Because I’m a bit of a nut that way, I did some searching to see if I could find which tartan is featured.  The Isle of Skye was home to Clan MacLeod, which features green and blue with red and yellow details.    This is not MacLeod, but it’s pretty close to Irish National.  The two-toned green suggests a reproduction tartan, I think?  Perhaps that’s for the best.  I’m always a little wary of wearing another clan’s colours!

Skye_c007

This lovely outfit is just one of the amazing creations that Arwen’s Creations has to offer.  Stop by and take a look!

Aloha!  A hui hou!  Or, perhaps, more appropriately, Bidh mi ‘gad fhaicinn!

Hoodie

I was looking though my unopened folder today and came across this great grunge style hoodie.  It’s rigged mesh in standard sizes and while really a man’s shirt, it works quite well on Lara.  And while looking for a nice hairstyle to go with it, I realized that Hair Fair 2016 is just around the corner!  It starts on the 16th of July.  I can’t wait 🙂

grunge hoodie_002

I picked up this hair style at last year’s Hair Fair, and as it’s umm yellow, I haven’t had much chance to wear it as you can imagine, even though it looks great!  But it certainly goes well with this top.
