Lovestruck Juliet

Well, that’s not how Mark Knopfler wrote it – or sang it – maybe… but why should Romeo get all the gold stars for his efforts?  Well, maybe we won’t get into looking at the sexes in Shakespeare too closely.  I suspect that not-a-few doctoral theses have been written on that topic!

But we should take a look at this latest group gift from Blue Moon Enterprises.  Lady Juliet is a lovely mesh gown in fitmesh for the standard SL avatar, Maitreya, and Slink!

I need to point out the lovely filigree choker from Strength & Charm that Blue gave me for my rez-day.  This is such a delicate little bronze-gold beauty, with three glittering emeralds.  It is perfect for this gown!  Mahalo, dear heart!   And a note of sincerest thanks to Aries Oh at S&C — her customer service is the best.

Siren Song

The Twisted Hunt must be one of the most challenging hunt in all of Second Life.  But wow, is it worth it!  Here are two lovely hunt items

Odyssey is a lovely set.  A bit of a close-up on the necklace, font and back.  The earrings and bracelets feature the same fan design.  I think it works very nicely with Siren‘s embroidered motif.  One might even think that were planned, given the consanguinity of names!

Pink world

Sometimes you just need to do something different.

In search of that ‘different’, my good friend Whit has decided to stop blogging after two years, and she’s been an inspiration to me here.  I can’t tell you how much I’ll miss her wit (heh) and her mentoring.  One of the things that she always enjoyed was pairing music with her fashion posts… so in her honour, a song from an obscure little band that I don’t know if anyone else has ever heard.  🙂

For me, ‘different’ is a little bit less dramatic – but only a little bit!  Solas at Blue Moon Enterprises brings Darcy to Fair Play for the month of March.  Darcy is available in Slink and SL fitmesh, and it’s perfect!

Light pink typically does not go so well with my colouring, so a little trip to the salon was necessary.  Blond?  well, it’s something different.

I’m going to go back to my ginger, but it is certainly a bit different seeing myself as a blond.  It’s amazing how strongly little things – hair and eye colour for an avatar – can change the way you see yourself — or at least, the way that I see myself.  In any case, be sure to stop by Fair Play before this lovely little number disappears!

Lost in the mist

This week’s group gift from The White Armoury is the lovely Mists of Arador.  It’s a lovely all-mesh gown in separate top  and skirt pieces, with optional puffy sleeves, as well as matching bracelets and a brooch at the waist.

In this day and age, I always test first against my Slink Physique mesh body. That is how I feel that I look my best!  I have no problem with the standard SL body, although I’m loathe to use SL hands or feet.

Arador was not specifically designed for mesh body: it features the standard five mesh sizes plus a SL fitmesh size.  I find that the XS fits the Physique body best, while the SL avatar works well with the XXS.

As with many similar meshes, I have problems with the straps on mesh tops/gowns at my shoulders: they sink beneath the skin on the Physique, and are too thin to use alpha zones.  I haven’t shown that here (the rear view shown below is with the standard SL avatar body), but long hair easily hides the glitch.

It really is a fine gown, and a lovely addition to my wardobe.  Mahalo to The White Armory for such a fine gift!

New life for lobster claws

Okay, let me explain, since that title clearly makes no sense.  Heliconia is a beautiful flowering plant, also known as “lobster claws” or “false bird-of-paradise”, and was clearly the inspiration for the fractaled Heliconia from Spyralle.  Heliconia has just been re-released (and hence the ‘new life’) with Omega appliers, and is available at the Secret Wednesday March Yard Sale!  (See how clever that title is now, in retrospect?)

Helicon comes with two prim skirt options – a simple single-layer (shown above), as well as a three-tiered option.  Have I mentioned how much I love prim skirts for dancing?  The updated Omega applier lets me use wear these fabulous designs with my mesh body.  It’s the best of both worlds!

Helicon is available in three different colour palettes – opal (shown), as well as two other lovely shades.

Stars swirl like snowflakes

Despite warmer temps somewhere, it is winter yet.

The White Armory knows…. and brings a weekly group gift for us, a gift of Winter Starlight.  I know I teased you last week with a White Armory gift that had just gone off, but this one is there in-store for you right now, for the next week!

Winter Starlight consists of standard layers and mesh and prim pieces.  I do love prim skirts, they swirl and flutter so prettily!  The overskirt for this is transparent with sparkling stars that flutter around me like fireflies, like snowflakes.

The wings are non-scripted but quite beautiful, and have a natural wave to them as you move, walk, or dance.  They come in both glow and non-glow options.

A Maiden’s Gown

Ohhh, I’m a horrible tease, and I apologise in advance – but more on that at the end of this.

You may have noticed, I’m a bit of a sucker for medieval or faerie-inspired clothing.  I accumulate far more than I can ever wear, but that doesn’t stop me!   Last week’s  group gift from The White Armory is a wonderful addition to my wardrobe.  The Maiden of E’na Dorei gown is fitmesh, with add-on flexi sleeves.

The fitmesh is designed for the standard SL avatar, and not the Physique or Lara.  Nevertheless, it fit my Physique body quite well, with just a little use of the alpha zones.

I love the details, they really make any outfit of this nature!  Now, why am I a tease?  Because I just found out that The White Armory changes their group gifts frequently, so this lovely item is no longer offered.  What’s the moral, then?  Make them one of your regular stops!  You’ll hate to miss out on their next one!   So please stop by and take a look.

Way back in October last year I said that the only thing stopping me from getting the Lara Mesh Body from Maitreya was my disappointment at the fit of my favourite mesh bikini on the body.  However, if you’ve been following along, I didn’t really let that stop me, and I got Lara in mid-December.

It’s taken me this long to find a new favourite bikini (just as well it was winter!)

Peacock Festival by Mon Cheri is in standard sizing with fitmesh for Belleza, Slink, and most importantly, Maitreya 🙂
