BF Telescope Dome

This year at the Sci Fi Con, I’ve finally released the clam shell telescope dome I’ve promised for so long.  I originally modeled this over four years ago, and while the model worked and I have it in SL, I was never happy with its look, the pivot plates for the shells were far too clunky.

So, about two years ago, I remodeled it and I was much happier with its look, so I went to upload it on the beta grid… and I couldn’t log in!  A little research found that the beta grid had not worked since the AWS uplift project.  So, I shelved the project waiting for the beta grid be fixed…

Only a couple of weeks ago, I remembered that I still hadn’t uploaded this, and I wanted it for this Con… and couldn’t find the Blender model!  A mad search ensued, including searching my backup archives and after about an hour, I realized that it might be on an old USB stick I’d replaced.  After another 10 minutes of searching drawers (I never throw out USBs, they end up in the bit bucket drawer) I found the file!

Here’s the closed dome in my garden at home.

The dome is 100% mesh and weighs in at 8 land impact, sized to hold either of the BF telescopes.  It has a hatch, purely for decorative purposes (although I might make it avatar-usable at some stage) which will open on touch, and the shells will open on the second touch.

The shells will also open and close on telescope start and stop, which is appropriate for the carbon truss scope.  However, if you open the dome manually, the dome will ignore telescope start and stop, which makes sense for the Newtonian.  Like other components of the telescope systems, it contains a modifiable notecard to set a channel if you wish to group a number of telescopes and domes together.  Just make sure the channel notecards in each group agrees.

Being an exhibitor, I get early access to the Sci Fi Con to set up, which gives me an opportunity to run around and do some photos (seeing today is press day)!

Here are a few vistas that caught my eye from walking around the nine sims.  Hopefully these will perk your interest to pay a visit to the event, and support SL Relay For Life while you’re at it!

Recently, I’ve been showing you some past group gifts by Blackbird Lace.  Here’s another (spectacular) one!

The outfit includes the wings, boots and dress.  The collar and bracers are included as part of the dress.  The dress and boots are sized to fit Lara, Legacy, and Hourglass.  The wings are scripted to animate on attach, but seem to have a problem with being overridden by other animation priorities and stopping.  The wings also revert to a specific size when detached, resized, then reattached.  I’m guessing with a couple of minutes of scripting, I could fix both these issues, but well, the outfit is awesome just as it is!

The skirt and top are all one piece, and their are sizes for Lara, Altamura, Curvy, Freya, Isis, Venus, TMP, Physique, and Hourglass.  The texturing tricks on this are very convincing.  I think I’d have to model those side pockets to get the shadows right!

Blueberry promised a new group gift for members, and I picked it up when I finally got into the Blueberry 10th Anniversary Sale the other day!

In the package we have a dress, panties, and the top of the dress as a shirt.  All pieces are sized to fit Lara, Lara Petite, Legacy, Legacy Perky, Freya, Isis, Hourglass, Physique, Reborn, Kupra, and Kupra Cups.  The mesh detail is wonderful!

Being a fatpack, it comes with a huge HUD containing the typical Blueberry palette of colors and patterns for different parts of the outfit.

For these photos, I’ve worn an applier bra/slip combination with it as well, the shirt is pretty wide open!

I showed you one of the gifts from the Miix Event yesterday, but this, this is the main event gift lol

There are cow print shoes, panties, the skirt and top, earrings, and yes, a cow plushie 🙂  Sizes include Lara, Legacy, Legacy Perky, Freya, Isis, Kupra, and Hourglass.  The shoes are sized for Slink High, Belleza, Maitreya, Legacy, and Kupra.

I have a friend who collects cow related things (I recently made her a cow cuckcoo clock for her birthday hehe).  She’s gonna love this!

This is one of a few gifts at this round of the Miix Event.  Miix is a recurring event that starts on the 30th of each month and runs until the 20th of the next.  You can pick up this gift simply by joining the FREE event group.

The top and super low-slung (!) capris are separates.  The top is sized to fit Lara, Lara Petite, Legacy, Legacy Perky, Freya, Physique, Hourglass, Kupra, Kupra Low, and Kupra Bimbo, and the capris will fit all the same bodies.  The top is very nicely done, with lots of nice detail around the side ties.

Included is a HUD with eleven pattern choices for the top, and eight for the capris

Blueberry 10th Anniversary Sale

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, Blueberry is celebrating ten years in SL with a store wide 50% off sale and a L$500 gift card for all members, which you can find in the group’s notices!  And a new group gift, which I’ll show you shortly!

With my L$500, I got some shorts, a lace set, and a top, and a jacket!  The sale goes for a few more days, and the crowd is slowly thinning 🙂 I finally managed to get into the FLF sim after only five minutes of trying.

All of the items I’m showing you come in multiple colors, and you can pick up fat or mega packs with bonus colors and patterns too.  With my gift card, I’m sticking to single colors that suit me, and well, a bit of a daring adventure on the yellow lace (it’s mustard-y enough to suit my hair grins).

Let’s tell you the prices first.  The jacket, top, and lace set were all L$125 each, and the shorts were L$100, for L$475.  I’m not sure if I can find anything in Blueberry’s store for L$25 or less, although I might have a search tomorrow!

All these items except the shorts are quite new, and Blueberry is making clothes for a standard set of sizes, and all these are no exception.  They are sized to fit Lara, Lara Petite, Legacy, Legacy Perky, Isis, Freya, Hourglass, and Physique.  Because the shorts are older, they also include a fit for Venus.

The lace set works well with the shorts too, and will also fit under the jacket, and has some nice details  around the buckles, which adds to the realism.

And finally here’s the full lace set.  The yellow is dark enough so that it goes with my hair, so I was daring and bought it 🙂
