Open Collar

I put up a post a couple of days ago that linked to The Temple of the Collar.  Someone asked me if I used RLV because of the link, and yes, both Aeon and I use the Open Collar scripts, but not in the necklace I was wearing.  Rather, I took the script set and put it in our rings.

As Aeon made our rings, I had to understand how the scripts worked and how make an attachment to place the scripts in. This is a quick tutorial on how to do that with your own objects.

Firstly, you need to obtain the scripts.  They are available at The Temple of the Collar for free.  The object you get is a very plain collar called “OpenCollar Six”, and as you will see, it’s constructed exactly the same as what I will show you below.  Don’t panic!  There are quite a few scripts in there and you will have to use “edit linked” and move them to your inventory.

Next, you need to create a linkset with six prims.  For nearly everything you could wear, five spheres at their smallest size will do just nicely as we are going to make them transparent anyway (at least for the ring.  If you have an attachment with at least six linked parts, , that’s all you need, visible or not).

Here’s a photo with the ring and five sphere’s rezzed beside it…

Each of the spheres needs to be named in the edit window’s general tab.  The names must be exactly right for the scripts to work.

Name the spheres from left to right:

  • Settings
  • Animator
  • Authorizer
  • Dialog
  • RLV

Now, from your inventory, you need to place scripts, notecards, and animations into each of the spheres, and the ring.

Here’s a photo for how each object’s contents should look, starting with the ring, and then followed by the spheres in the same order as above.  Note for the Animator, the contents are not all contained in the photo of the window.  Just drop the notecard and two scripts you can see in the photo, and all the animations from OpenCollar, into this sphere.

I can now link everything together.  Make sure you select the object with all the scripts (the ring, in my case) as the root of the linkset!  Reset the scripts in the object, and if everything has worked ok, you should get a message that says “RLV ready!”

Now you can position the spheres and make them transparent.  I just selected the root object (the ring), copied its position, and pasted the position into each of the linked spheres to position them all with the same center.

And that’s it!  Take the object into your inventory and wear for your personalized RLV enabled attachment!

Birdy Blue

While I was running around checking MM boards yesterday, my letter came up on a Lucky Letter board twice in a row!  This pretty little applier and prim dress was the first of them 🙂

The top and pants are on system underwear layers, and there is an Omega applier too.  The prim skirt doesn’t have a resizer, but it’s modify, so if you need to, you can adjust the size to fit you.

This color happens to be one of my favourites as it suits my hair so well.  Pinks and reds?  Noooo.  Blues, purples, and greens?  Yes please!

Rebel

SL is liberating in some ways.  I have no tattoos in RL and I doubt if I would ever get one.  I do have a really good friend who got a large one (think playing card size) on her inner wrist when I would have thought all thoughts of tattoos were left behind in her teens or early twenties, but it did have very special meaning to her.

Having said that, I’ve collected a couple of tattoos in SL and I occasionally wear them to the beach or a special event (such as, you guessed it, a “Best in Tattoos” competition).  I even have made some that are available in our store.

I realized I hadn’t taken any pictures of them for the blog (other than the angel wings and the hip tattoo), and as a dutiful reporter of all things you can wear in SL, here are some photos of one I recently picked up from a midnight mania board 🙂

This tattoo is on upper system tattoo layers and comes with appliers for Omega and TMP in dark, medium (which I’m wearing), and light.  The artwork is very good, and the shading, particularly on the hands and under the arms, is superb.  If the creator is not a real life tattoo artist, I’ll be surprised.

The above photo has a tiny retouch to hide the join between my hand and arm, but normally, you can’t see it in world.

And again, the shading on the back is excellent.

Life’s a beach

This cute little trikini is a group gift from Scandalize.  Scandalize is L$100 to join, but this swimsuit alone has to be worth that price!

The size is Maitreya Lara fitmesh only!  So make sure you have Lara before running off to the store and paying your join-up fee!

A simple sea-themed necklace and bracelet compliment this nicely.

Rainbow Rave

How about some rainbow colors and a bikini?!  All set for a rave!  I hope they have glow-y necklaces at the event!

The rainbow leopard print is in system and appliers.  And the bikini comes in standard sizes plus fitmesh for Freya, Isis, Physique and has a two color HUD, this pattern plus a plain lime green.

My tail is from Psychotic Neko, and I’m still convinced it’s the most versatile tail in all of SL!  It has a staggering range of textures, colors, and glow options, and different parts of the tail can be set to any combination you like.

  • Tattoo: Rainbow Leopard by Catseye
  • Body: Lara by Maitreya
  • Hands and feet: Slink
  • Lipstick: Marcia Blues by F&TJ (no longer available)
  • Bikini: Festival Bikini II / Peacock by Mon Cheri
  • Hair: Nyanotech Hair [Type B] – Cyaolick V3 by Curious Kitties
  • Tail: Extreme Neko Tail – Corset by Psychotic Neko
  • Necklace: Long Stone Necklace 1 by Meva

Scandale

Hello lovelies, today I have a little mini and jacket to show off!

This is a complete outfit, and includes the lace jacket, the dress, the heels, and the leg straps.  It also includes the necklace and a lip/ear chain which I’ve chosen not to wear as it’s no modify, and doesn’t fit my face.

The jacket is fitmesh and comes in one-size-fits-all.  The dress comes in fitmesh sizes for eBody, Lara, Hourglass, and Physique, and two fitmesh sizes for classic avatars, large and small.

As I couldn’t wear the piecing in the pack, I added some from my jewelry box 🙂

Sarah

Welcome our lovely friend Sarah to her first photo shoot!

Sarah is showing off a wonderful collection of items from various creators.  When I first saw this outfit, I sort of pictured her with a plasma rifle in her hand 🙂  I dropped that idea, but I still chose a neo-noir setting à la Blade Runner in which to photograph her.

Sarah is wearing a hairstyle from eXxEsS that is very similar to one I have from the same creator.  Except what the photos don’t show is that hers moves with the wind!  A very cool effect and something that only now other creators are slowly catching up with.

Also worth pointing out are the crystal platforms Sarah is wearing.  I thought I was going to have to cut them out as I didn’t think they would be visible enough, but this last picture shows them off nicely.

And I must say, the detail on the corset and socks from The Mystic is just fantastic.  As I’m sure you can probably guess, all this is Lara specific fitmesh.

I hope Sarah is pleased with how her pictures turned out and will be keen to show us some more outfits sooner rather than later!

Amy by J4F

This gorgeous little corset style dress was the prize on Just 4 Fun’s MM board the other day.

It comes in standard mesh sizes plus fitmesh for Lara, Physique, and Hourglass.  You definitely won’t want to wear an alpha with this, which is a good thing as the pack doesn’t include one 🙂

What is included in the pack though are the pearl bracelets (no resize script unfortunately) and the heels for Slink Highs.  A very nice MM prize!

As you can see the dress is materials enabled.  You can hopefully get some idea of the varying light play on it from these photos.  Under standard lighting (not projector lights as I’m using here) it looks much more black than silver.

Snake skin

Wow, one of the better applier + mesh panel dresses I’ve seen!  It’s deserving of a post 🙂

The dress is on system layers and has appliers for EVE, Lara, Omega, TMP, and Amanzing (not even sure what that is?)  And it comes with mesh panels in the five standard sizes.

The texture matching is really nice.  Usually with these you notice the mesh panel, but as you can see, it blends in nearly perfectly with the applier outfit (there is a tiny noticeable join between the shirt and the pants).  Great job!

And when I saw “black snakeskin”, I knew I had some heels to match!

Temptation

My goodness, Scandalize comes out with some lovely group gifts!  They are worth joining for the paltry one-off fee of only L$100.  This group gift alone is worth that!

This absolutely gorgeous semi-sheer bodysuit is great in the bedroom on under a set of loose fitmesh jeans (although they do have to be loose else you’ll get breakthrough).  It only comes in fitmesh for Freya, Isis, Venus, Physique, Hourglass, and Lara, so make sure you have one of these mesh bodies before running out and getting it!

The sheer fabric over my bottom puts a smile on my face as I know it will make someone special very happy 🙂
