Fantasy Faire 2019: A Golden Oasis

I love how things just come together.  There is this beautiful little fountain/planter area in the Midas sim at Fantasy Faire 2019, and I fell in love with it when I saw it.  I snapped a few quick pics, but wasn’t satisfied with them¸they didn’t do a great job capturing the oasis beauty.  Fantasy Faire  is fey, however, and tempts with so many beauties… and Nirma Designs / Moonlay Designs and Dreaming Thicket provided the perfect ensemble.  The lovely little Ashanti top and skirt are gacha rares from Nirma Designs / Moonlay Designs, and are absolutely wonderfully textured.

The Dianthus veil from Dreaming Thicket is a perfect complement to Ashanti.  The unrigged mesh can be adjusted for that perfect fit on any face.  There are opaque and transparent versions to suit your look!

Are you looking for a little sparkle of gold to brighten your day?

There are so many wonderful things at Fantasy Faire, and every one helps contribute to the fight against cancer.  With 16 sims, you can always get in somewhere and have a look around.  Fantasy Faire 2019 is only here until May 5, and there is SO MUCH to see.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Cleopatra

Among the fun things I get to do in Second Life is be a DJ for Sisters of Eden, a wonderful women’s club. On my weekly gigs I like to always have a theme and build a set decoration, as well as dress appropriately. Today I did a Sands of Egypt theme, and so of course had to do another mix and match (maxing out my attachments *again*).

I’m standing just inside the entrance to a grand pyramid, with steps leading down into the inner depths, where the dance floor awaits!

Moon Dancer

Sometimes one needs to look outside the box to get an interesting look. As my followers know, I am fond of mixing and matching components: a top from here, a thong from over there… and soon you have a new, and unique, look that isn’t just bought off the store rack or MP listing.

In this brief entry today let me show you one such outfit. As is often the case for me the spark was one outfit, or more specifically parts of an outfit. Here it was Moon Dancer from May’s Soul, a gacha seller of fun and cute products. I bought most of the parts of Moon Dancer last year but it took some time to see how best to use it, as it was not fit mesh or Maitreya-sized though it can be resized. So I put on my thinking cap.

The Moon Dancer parts I had were a thong, wrist bracelets with little wings, and little shoulder wings. I knew I had a set of blue and white big wings to match, from Ramp’s Rosemary outfit. So I started pulling in more parts: a feather collar from The Forge, along with their Valkryie feathered headpiece. I wasn’t happy with the feathered boots I was finding, so I used another set of those same Valkyrie wings and adapted to my fave Gothic Lolita boots from Candy Kitten. Finally to tie it all together I tossed in the Baika outfit I highlighted last week, from r2 Fashion.

The result is a winged and feathered outfit that is now more than just what each of the parts were. So with a little creative thinking, you can extend the possibilities already in your inventory.

  • Moon Dancer Feather Harness white, Right and Left cuff white, Thong white by May’s Soul (not currently available but May’s Soul items are sold here)
  • Outfit: Baika by r2 Fashion
  • Feather Collar and Valkyrie ears (head and boots) by The Forge
  • Armlets: Fawn by KC
  • Bracelets: Azalea by Elle Boutique
  • Boots: Gothic Lolita Boots by Candy Kitten
  • Wings: Rosemary outfit by Ramp
  • Hair: Misaki by Argrace
  • Pose: Liquid Hater 36 by Bauhaus Movement

Come fly with my sweet friends! Cheers!

On a Wing and a Fae

Let’s have a little fun this time around and I will show you how I really look in Second Life. Yes, I am by nature a faerie and most at home wearing my wings. In fact, this first outfit I will show you is what got me into SL. In RL I do 3D artwork, and one day I saw a promo ad for the beautiful Moonlight Melody outfit by Caverna Obscura. My first thought was “Wow, that is as good as the 3D models I am using! I need to go look at that.” I signed up for Second Life, and it was the first outfit I bought… and here I am six years later. 🙂

Now unlike some of my ‘normal’ clothes ensembles, with my fantasy and faerie outfits I tend to mix and match a lot of things… sometimes even maxing out my attachments… but this is more about sharing the faerie look than the parts and pieces.

So let’s start with said Moonlight Melody outfit, which is still my all time favorite. All of these shots were taken in my private garden, and no surprise it was rather designed with faeries in mind. 🙂

When I am feeling really one with my garden I tend to start sprouting flowers. 🙂 In fact this outfit is mostly just… flowers… but then that is not uncommon with outfits from Boudoir, who specialize in elaborate ensembles that are often a floral riot.

Often times it takes a bit of experimentation to find the right combination of components, but when you finally hit upon it the feeling is happy happy. And even better when it can be worn multiple ways; in this instance I am wearing all the parts of the outfit but depending on mood and circumstance various parts can be removed for a more, um, casual look and feel… This particular outfit also holds special meaning for me, with some very happy shared memories a part of it.

When I am looking for a nice contemplative spot, there is nothing better than my little waterwheel! And here I am fluttering in another wonder from Caverna Obscura, called Wisteria Wind. Caverna does such wonderful fantasy outfits!

Come, take my hand and fly with me to my garden, sweet faeries!

A thousand nights and a night

Solas and Bee at Silvan Moon Designs have a lovely exclusive for you at We Love Role Play this month: the beautiful Song of Shaherazade.

Song of Shaherazade is a single-piece mesh available in in fitmesh for SLink Physique and Maitreya Lara only.

Shaherazad is available in six lovely colours — black, blue, green, purple, white and red.  Bee’s texturing is just amazing: I love the hip scarf and the the coin detail on the top.

I think I’ve blogged the Alae Atrae neckpiece from Rowena’s Designs before: it’s a beautiful neckpiece featuring an ankh and spine-wing motif, with a colour selection HUD.

Song of Shaherazade is a lovely outfit with a Indian/middle-eastern period feel, but it’s only around this month!  Stop by We Love Role Play and take a look today!

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Artemida

Another belly dance event has come and gone.  Here’s my costume, again from RaMp, who certainly make some nice belly dance stuff.  I now have a couple of outfits I like from them, and will start recycling hehe.

bd-white-silver_009

The outfit is all applier and prim and comes with everything you see here including the earrings and headband.  There are system layers and specific appliers for Omega, Slink, and Maitreya.

Belly dance

Recently at Eden, we have been doing a belly dance event once a month.  I’m not a major fan of the music, but the event is fun.  This was my latest outfit 🙂

I got this from the marketplace and the comment on the item was in part “I was hesitant to buy it at first. I was afraid it would be rigged for popular mesh bodies and wouldn’t fit my custom body. But it’s not rigged and I was able to adjust it perfectly.”  Of course what this doesn’t mention is that you really better be good at editing to “adjust it perfectly” 🙂

The belt was no issue, I just stretched it smaller to fit.  But the under bra part?  OMG!  I shrank it as much as it would go, then had to edit linked and shrink the main part, and then move all the little prim and mesh attachments to match.  Every one of those attachment points has a mesh object and three flexiprims on them!  Eleven attachment points = 44 prims eeeks!

Fortunately the necklace, ankle, upper arm, and wrist bracelets were all fine (whew).

The outfit also comes with system panties and the breast decorations.  It also comes with some mesh nipple covers too, but with a mesh body and the appliers (Maitreya, Omega, Slink, and TMP included) you don’t really need them.

Once I’d edited it, it really is a spectacular outfit!

I’ll just mention my skin here too.  Lumae, who made the Adore Peach Bare skin I wear all the time, is very generous with group gifts.  The skin I’m wearing with this outfit was a FabFree group gift, and unlike a number of other skin makers who just include the system skin and call it good, Lumae’s owner Lumiya Rae is wonderful and includes appliers for all major bodies, heads, and Slink hands and feet in her gifts.  What an amazingly generous person!  I highly recommend Lumae (I should, I wear one of their products every day!).  You should run over and look at some of the fabulous skins there!
