Supernova

There was a little story I heard on the social media earlier this week, and with apologies to the OP, I want to try to retell it for you quickly.

I went to the coffee shop and as the barista handed me my espresso, he leaned over and in a quiet voice whispered “Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle”.

Somewhat startled, I smiled and thanked him… and as I turned away to get about my day, I overheard his co-worker tell him “Aww, man, will you knock it off with your inspirational shit?  Nobody wants to hear that!”

He replied “I am NOT going to let YOU dull my sparkle!”

With that in mind… here is a little bit of sparkle!

Happy aloha Friday, my friends!  You’ve made it to the weekend!  How about something slink and sparkly and shimmery, perfect for going out to a little interstellar dancing?  I’d been looking for the right thing to wear with the beautiful Opal Laguna skin from Fallen Gods.  When I saw Mishmash Fusion‘s Nyota Supernova dress at the Sci-Fi con a couple weeks ago, I just knew it was perfect.  I didn’t get the chance to share it with you before now, but it’s the perfect opportunity!

It’s no surprise to anyone who knows me how much I like opal.  The skin has the most beautiful opalescent highlights and I just couldn’t pass it up.  When I saw Nyota Supernova, I knew it was just the perfect complement.  The dress is overall black, with green and blue texture highlights that are a wonderful match to the skin.  Better yet, the cutouts reveal a lot of the opalescent highlights without being completely bare!

Happy Aloha Friday, everyone!  I wish you a safe and relaxing weekend!  Show off your sparkle!

Fantasy Faire 2019: Malika

There is one more week of the magic of Fantasy Faire 2019 remaining, and still so many fun things to go and see.  This lovely dark gown is from God Mod, and has a perfect gothicky dark flair!

The shoulder pieces are unrigged mesh, and can be adjusted to your fit.  Earthstones‘s Phoenix Rising carried the spikey motif, and the reds seemed to echo the rust highlights in Malika.

There are so many wonderful things at Fantasy Faire, and every one helps contribute to the fight against cancer.  With 16 sims, you can always get in somewhere and have a look around.  Fantasy Faire 2019 is only here until May 5, and there is SO MUCH to see.

Throwback Thursday

Okay, let’s start by saying I am NOT promoting anything that I’m wearing today.  🙂

I was going on a bit of an inventory cleaning binge, and threw this out as I was getting rid of lots of old and unworn stuff… but then went back and retrieved it.  It’s sort of perfect timing — I’ve been in SL for four years now… and it’s rather amazing.  I know, many of you might have been here much longer than that, and that’s all right — I know you’ve seen more.

From the progress we’ve made, four years is a apparently a long time in SL.  It feels like forever, and no time at all.

  • Iffyta — Purple Butterflies Jeans Outfit (marketplace link)
  • [L.Warwick] — Savannah Ankle Strapped Heels (Grape Leather)
  • :: envi :: — Sabra Ear Pierceing – Venus
  • Kalina’s Design — Lesbian Symbol Diamond Belly Piercing (marketplace link)
  • Luanes World — Try to Forget You #2 pose

So I was cleaning out my inventory, and stumbled on this purple butterflies outfit.  It’s the oldest outfit I have, not quite four years old, but probably only a couple months shy of it.  Standard layers, with mesh bits for the sleeve cuffs.  Even the shirt collar is just textured on the standard layer.  For the record, I have those heels in three different colours and they’re still my favourite style of heels in SL!

We probably all have these hiding in our inventories, in our wardrobes… and we put it on and go “EEEEK DON’T LOOK, I’M HIDEOUS!”

I know I did.  I’m mostly embarrassed with how… grumpy… I feel that I looked!

But on second thought, I stopped…  you know, this was me.  I was so proud and happy of this.  I splurged on SLink feet shortly after getting into SL, and some nice mid shoes, and if I recall correctly, the hair.  WOW, does that hair not play well with background alphas!  But I still love this outfit… I would die for it in fitmesh!

It’s amazing, right now, to think “I was so proud of how I looked”… and to think how far we’ve come, even in just four years.

There are a lot of times we look at SL and say “dammit, SL, why can’t you fix this problem, or that problem”… but it’s important, too, to look and say “Thanks, SL, for adding this… for expanding this… for creating this”.

Thanks, SL, for giving me four happy years.  Thanks, my friends, for walking with me through this little venture.

Bright beauty from Anna’s Nest!

Aloha, my friends!  I was introduced to a lovely new shop the other day when I met the owner, Annabell Wandsworth.  Anna’s Nest Home and Fashions is a wonderfully eclectic shop, with some wonderfully detailed goodies for your home and for your body!

Drape Dress is a lovely mesh gown in standard rigged mesh and fitmesh sizes for SLink, Belleza, and Maitreya bodies.  It fits just right, particularly in back… so dance with me slow.. and hold me just so.

Please stop by Anna’s Marketplace link and have a look around.  Her home decorations are incredible, you won’t be disappointed!  Mahalo!  A hui hou!

The Courtesan

Night,
dark, soft, alluring,
spinner of dreams I want to be lost in,
is a kindhearted courtesan,
who never demanded anything
for all her loving, that to me
was like a swim in the pool
of “Ananda” I was searching for.

I climbed her door steps
with the silent footfalls of a cat,
all these years for solace,
when the fair lass ,
regaled by my songs evening after evening,
scoffed and taunted,
when I fell wounded
in duels of life, I was forced to fight
to keep my honor intact.

Once,
seeing me left in the lurch,
blood soaked and badly wounded
she led my tired legs
to her house of magic and secret treasure hunts,
blessed me with oblivion, till I woke up.
Her mansion became
arena of silent dances of wounded memories,
till sun appeared above misty mountains
cheering me up with new promises,
but my thoughts never left her.
I spent my darkest hours
in her house,
thrilled by dreams she induced,
in which under moonbeams
princesses gathered,
bubbling fine wine brimmed
in sparkling glasses,
I felt the most loved man
within her tender arms.
I would wait for the night, my sullied lover,
to arrive with her hands of breeze,
to tousle my hair and caress my face.
Night  took away my pains,
her lasciviousness is the only drink,
that makes me ask for more.
She is not only mine,
as a courtesan, she needs to entertain
whoever seeks her,
But when I am with her,
she is all mine.

(Night is a Kind Hearted Courtesan, by K. Balachandran)

A night out

Happy Friday, everyone!  I found this lovely minidress,Diamonds Take You Higher,  from Precious Designs, and it seemed perfect for hitting the clubs!

Diamonds features a lovely texture-change HUD with several lovely colour options. I do love the purple!

Whether you’re going out on the night, enjoying a quiet night in, or even if you’re still hard at work — I wish you a wonderful aloha Friday.  Love and hugs and kisses, my lovely friends!

Bird of Paradise

Aloha, my dear friends!  I can’t decide whether Eclectic StarsBird of Paradise print for the Buffy dress is boho or roaring 20s, so perhaps it is a little of each?  I’ll definitely be wearing it both ways!

Buffy is available in all your favourite fitmesh bodies: all three Belleza, both SLink, and Maitreya.

I couldn’t help but shoot it in one of my favourite sims for that era, Chicago 1920’s.  There’s an awful lot to explore, but it is a RP sim, so please come in era-appropriate attire!

A touch of darke

I’ve been blogging about Petite Mort for a while now, but I don’t know how many of you know about Melora’s more recent venture, Oubliette!  Oubliette has a different flavour than Petite Mort, a bit of goth, a bit of darkness — or as one of my favourite book series says, “darkeness”.  That darkeness fires Lucretia, an exclusive art-deco inspired gown for the Midsummer Enchantment event!

Lucretia comes in fitmesh sizes for Maitreya, TMP, both SLink and all three Belleza bodies, and there’s a lovely palette of six colours for you to choose from.

  • {Way} — Katherine 03 pose

I really love the beautiful way that Melora has worked the angular lines of the dress into the more flowery curves at the top and at the hem.   That’s always seemed the beautiful paradox of art deco to me, drawing from art nouveau, merging the linear and the curved.

Stop by Midsummer Enchantment, visit Oubliette, and revel in the darke.

Vintage Vogue

A beautiful dress out of the roaring twenties, opulence and elegance embodied in Silvan Moon Designs’ Vintage in Vogue, exclusive for the ongoing Vintage Fair!

Vintage in Vogue comes in fitmesh for Maitreya Lara and SLink Physique, with separate gown, overskirt, and an unrigged fur stole.  The lovely gloves are bento-enabled, fit for Maitreya and SLink hands, and come in both black and white colours!

  • Model Pose #34, created by Michael Firefly

This is a lovely treasure of a gown, perfect for a period dance, for roleplay, perfect for re-capturing the glamour of an earlier age.  Stop by The Vintage Fair and pick up a demo, take a look before this gown, too, is but a memory!

Sami revisited

Carrie’s Lingerie has released another new update on an old friend.  Sami was one of my favourite old applier pieces of lingerie, so I’m so happy to have the updated version with Omega appliers.  The lace-up back is just mmmmms.

  • Carrie’s Lingerie — Sami (fuscia) corset and stockings
  • .woundRibbon choker (dark)
  • Lazuri — Classic Pearls earrings and bracelet
  • [L.Warwick] — Savannah Ankle Strapped Heels (Noir Leather)
  • <K&S> — Candy #1 pose

Sami comes in six strong colours (and a fatpack is available), so you’re sure to find your look.

I usually don’t follow boudoir shots with something more covered up, but I do like wearing a corset and a pair of jeans… it’s perfect for a casual sexy look when you’re out for the pub.

I am so glad that Carrie’s Lingerie has continued to update some of the older pieces with Omega appliers.  I can think of quite a few to put on their list — Fireangel in particular, and that one burlesque-y outfit that I haven’t seen in the main store for ages!
