Friday on the beach

Happy Aloha Friday, my friends! I get to share my new fave swim cossie with you, a beautiful kini top and skirt from Jazabelle Boutique!  As are most of Jaz’s creations, it’s a complete outfit, including jewelry and shoes, and a few clothing options as well!

Jaz included a lovely pair of unrigged slippers/clogs with matching print.  Normally I’d look for SLink- or Lara- rigged footwear, but I’m really happy with these.  Not only do they fit both Lara and SLink feet well (those being what I tried), but they’re also adjustable, so that I could modify them to fit with the SLink Kitten feet, which are half-way between ‘flat’ and ‘mid’.  I really love that!

I really love the little dolphin necklace (“nai`a” in ‘ōlelo Hawai’i).  It’s a wonderful little piece, and completely perfect for this outfit!

My Little Plumeria includes a very skimpy thong top and bottom, but I love the skirt and full top.    The thong bottom can be worn with the skirt, and there’s a modesty panel for the skirt if you like as well.

Every day is beach day on the Islands.  Relax, take a breath, and savour… breath in the sea air, and let your worries float away on the waves.

Mahalo!  A hui hou kākou!

I am wearing:

Powers of Prediction

I foresee people coming together to help out those less fortunate.  Hey, look at that, I’m right! Don’t call me a Sybil, that’s really just the beautiful new dress that Kerryth at Spyralle has created for Spoonful of Sugar, an event to help support Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) (Doctors Without Borders).

So I’m always on the prowl for good new hair.  Curly hair is rough — there’s lots of mesh hair for straight locks, but my curls are rough to reproduce in-world.  Often the hair I wear for walking around in-world is different from what I wear for photos — hair with flexies is rough on photos, but it can sure look good as you dance or walk about in-world.  So I was really excited to find Leela from Analog Dog at SoS.  It’s not an exclusive there — it’s also at the mainstore — but I believe that the purchases at SoS contribute to MSF, so it’s a good time to buy!  Leela is very similar to my go-to hair (Annie, also from Analog Dog) — but it’s a bit longer, with a lovely curl over my right eye.  🙂

Sybil comes in six lovely colours, each in a “glyph” and “plain” version.  You might guess which prefer!  I love this dress so much that I might have obtained four of the six available colours!

My friends, have a wonderful weekend.  Stop by Spoonful of Sugar, get some lovely things, and help out MSF.  The only thing better than finding new treasures is helping others out in the process!

Mahalo, my friends!  A hui hou!

in the darkeness….

And no, I know “darkness” is spelled without an ‘e’, but I really love Angie Sage’s Magyk series, and the idea of darke that she describes.

So here’s a lovely little dress from Oubliette to share with you.  This was a VIP gift from the spring hunt — so I know, a long time back, but a pretty something to share with you.  Oubliette has plenty to help you explore your darke side.

I found this lovely hairstyle from Truth Hair.  Farryn is a lovely loose ponytail, and like all of Truth’s lovely mesh hairs, features a wonderful styling hud that allows you your choice of ponytail location, wisps, and bangs.

If you’re not a member of the Witchwood/Petite Mort/Oubliette group, you really should stop by the sim and join up.  There are regular hunts and other events taking place, and you sure don’t want to miss out again!

A’a i ka hula!

Happy Aloha Friday, my friends!  I get to share a beautiful new ti pa’u with you, a traditional hula skirt made from ti leaves.  It’s all in mesh from Island Style Designs!  Leave the grass skirts behind, and please please please let’s not talk about the abomination of coconut bras.  (although you may want to see the note on coconut bras at the end of this older post).

  • Island Style Designs — Hula Girl mesh hula outfit (Maitreya/Physique fitmesh/standard 5 rigged mesh sizes) (includes mesh ti skirt, white top, hibiscus haku lei with ferns, kukui necklace, plumeria lei, and hibiscus flowers for your ear — all of the items that you see here except for the kupe’e and kakau, the anklets/bracelets and tattoo!)
  • ::*) Charmed (*:: —  plumeria kupe’e (anklet and bracelet) (from Ti-Leaf skirt, 30cm, Pearl)
  • Juna Artistic TattooHaka tattoo woman
  • BellePoses — Hula Baby 6 (mirror) pose (marketplace link) exclusive for the The Avenue

And yes, I know that the haka is Maori in origin, but the tattoo has many common themes across Polynesia… besides,  like it.

Also, that lovely traditional canoe behind me?  It’s a wa’a kaukahi, a single-hulled canoe with an outrigger.  This lovely one came from Tiki Tattoopurveyor of lovely island decor.  This is a really lovely piece, and was a gift to me from a dear friend.

This is such a lovely hula outfit.  Nickki at Island Style Designs has really outdone herself!  You’ll definitely see me in this at summer dance events.

A’a i ka hula, waiho i ka maka’u i ka hale!  Dare to dance, leave your shame at home!

Aloha kākou, my friends!  A hui hou!

Happy Summer Days!

A few little happies to share with you this beautiful Friday!  First up, Happy Summer Days is a gorgeous little dress from Miss Jones.  It’s currently featured on the Pleaseblossom path of the Midsummer Night’s Dream 9 Hunt!

OMG, I think it landed on my head!  The Aloha headpiece is a bright and cheery headpiece from Astralia that a friend found and just had to get for me.  It features a lovely HUD with a few colour choices for flowers and the bird.

Happy Summer Days comes with an amazing HUD.  I tried to count, and I think that there are 37 solid colours you can choose from, and another 37 different patterned textures.  I might be off one in each column, so figure somewhere between 72 and 76  colour/pattern choices for you!  Your biggest problem will be choosing your favourite!

Just when you think that you’ve come to the end of the path…. the world opens up in front of you.

Have a wonderful Friday, a wonderful weekend my friends!  Stay cool out in the summer heat, or stay warm in the winter chill, and know that you are special and bright.

Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Reflections

I am so excited to share the latest offering from Nickki at  Island Style Designs with you!  Nickki has created a gorgeous swimsuit and pareo combo with a fantastic shiny metallic texture.

In the daylight, it looks like this: (note: advanced lighting and materials must be enabled!)

The outfit is fitmesh, and comes rigged for Maitreya, both SLink, all three Belleza bodies, both EVE bodies, TMP, and Altamura.    The strapless suit features some lovely pink lacing in the back, and a subtle green/red/yellow shading for the floral pattern.

Where this suit and pareo really shine (so to speak) is in the dark with some interesting lighting effects.  I waded into the water with my pareo still on, and added a little extra lighting to make the suit really shine.  You can see the lights really reflected in the suit.

I really loved the pareo, but did finally take it off to just show the suit on its own.   It’s somewhat lower cut at the hips, giving a lovely slightly retro feel and look.

We’ve seen body-specific fitmesh explode into SL, and while there has been a lot of materials-enabled textures, we haven’t seen lots of reflective clothing.  This is gorgeous, and is sure to be an attention-getter at parties.

Stop on by the new Island Style Designs and take a look today!  Mahalo!  A hui hou!

The Dark Queen

The latest round of Enchantment is open, and the theme is Snow White!  Our favourite fantasy purveyors, Silvan Moon Designs, has a sponsor booth with a new original mesh dress, the Evil Queen Grimhilde!

Grimhilde comes in six beautiful dark colours in fitmesh for SLink and Maitreya bodies.

There are five different components to this gown — the gown itself, an overskirt, sleeves, belt, and collar.  All are fitmesh save the collar, which is mod and resizeable.

Please visit Enchantment today — as all dreams, it is fleeting.  It’s a lovely shopping experience, and there are many wonderful things to find!

Kazumi

I just got to take a look at some lovelies from the recent Rock Your Rack event (sadly now over), and I wanted to share some pretties that I picked up.  Spyralle offered the lovely Kazumi jacket and pants outfit in four lovely shades.

I picked up these boots as a group gift at .:Ecce Bellus:..   They’re lovely, and also sold in a light taupe shade for a VERY reasonable price!  I couldn’t resist picking up both.

I’m hoping Kerryth will get Kazumi into the stores soon. In the meantime, stop by and take a look, Spyralle is involved in all kinds of events and hunts right now — don’t miss out!

Spoonful of Sugar, part 1

It’s time to help support Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) (Doctors Without Borders) again at Spoonful of Sugar.  MSF is an organisation of health care workers who supply medical care to people in dire need in some of the most dangerous places in the world, and Spyralle wants to make the deal all the sweeter for you with Ireni.

Ireni is available in all of your favourite mesh sizes: five rigged mesh sizes, three Belleza, two SLink, Maitreya and TMP.

What better to complement than my favourite flower from Island Style Designs and some gorgeous honu earrings from Spyralle ?

There are many beautiful things at Spoonful of Sugar, stop by, do a little shopping, and help out those in need.  We are all family, and we all need each other

Tara on the beach

Why do stores give out group gifts?  I figure two good reasons — to thank their customers, and to encourage new customers into their stores.  I’ve gladly just discovered {FAFA} ethnic clothing, and you can be sure I’ll be back!

Alaska Metro <3‘s Daytime is a lovely general-purpose makeup set, eyeshadow and lippy for any casual occasion.

Off we go, skipping down the sand — chasing every moment of Summer that’s left.
