Waiting for Spring

Eden had its annual Spring Queen dance this past weekend, and it was the perfect opportunity for a new gown!  Paris METRO Couture had just the thing with Wild Bunch, a beautiful new creation in mesh and flexi.  This is the first hybrid gown that I’ve seen from Paris METRO, and I’m so glad for it.

This was the perfect gown for my Mokolea necklace and earrings set from Luminesse.  It now features the OptPlus script, so jewelry pieces can be menu adjusted for glow and/or full bright!

PM has long understood that full-mesh gowns dance so very poorly, and have always had wonderful flexi gowns with applier tops.  But as lovely as their texturing is, appliers just can’t compete with fitmesh for realism in many circumstances.  Paris METRO Couture has combined the two here, crating a mesh gown with a flexi overskirt.  Be warned: as with any good flexi gown, complexity is high, but not critically so (in my opinion): the fitmesh component comes in at about 1500, and the overskirt at nearly 200.000.  With jewelry and hair, you’re probably clearing 300.000 total.  For a beautiful ball gown, that’s pretty low!

This flower mesh gown comes in three lovely patterns, please stop on by and take a look.

That’s A Wrap

A friend gave me this as a gift.  Very generous of them!  I did have a similar outfit in applier, but wow this is fitmesh!

The outfit comes with fitmesh sizes for Maitreya Lara and Slink Physique for all the pieces.  There are two color options (red and dark red, which I’m wearing) and multiple options regarding length of arm and leg wraps, single top and bottom, and a full on piece for the body.  Lots of options here for playing with RLV too, come to think of it 😉

As you would expect from Caverna Obscura, the mesh, rigging, and texturing are very well done.  I think I’ll be wearing this on Valentine’s Day!

a hidden oasis

As the heat of the afternoon fell away and softer breezes blew across the sands, she slipped from the safety of the seraglio and out to visit her hidden oasis… a place of beauty and respite.

I’m a sucker for beautiful silks, diaphanous and flowing.  Caverna Obscura surely has mastered this art, combining fitmesh for those of us who love our mesh bodies with flexiprims for skirts.  Starlight certainly is an excellent example.  I stumbled across it while looking for some white silks for a recent event at Eden, and immediately fell in love.

Starlight features fitmesh sleeves, top, and skirt — each in a opaque and diaphanous fitmesh and rigged mesh version, with flexiprim silks to augment.  But wait, Aeon, you say!  long mesh skirting is horrid for dancing, you always say so!   Ahhhh, but Caverna was thinking ahead: there’s a full flexi skirt in here as well, so that nothing impedes your movement!

All of the floral enhancements (with exception of Persefona’s wreath crown) are separate mesh pieces, and can be worn or left off at your convenience.  This is truly an amazing piece, and a beautiful addition to Caverna’s line.

Join me at the oasis… feel the cool waters at your feet, the lovely breeze at your cheek, whispering through your hair….

Fae of the Fall

After showing the lovely Queen Frani to you previously, I thought I’d share my own outfit for the Sisters of Eden Autumn Queen Dance.  I’ve blogged the base outfit before, but added a bit to create an angel of autumn?  A fall fae?  Can fae have feathered wings?

So, sometimes you get lucky.  Bare Rose created some beautiful bento wings in their “B-Wings“, sold in black and white colours.  Fortunately, they are mod, so I could change the overlay colour.  Be VERY careful, the wings are NO COPY: do NOT try changing the textureONLY change the overcolour.  I played around a little bit until I found what looked just like gold to me.  The texture-enabled wings turned that gold into something shining with a hint of metallic glint.  Just… wow.

Persefona‘s Floating Leaves come in a number of different distributions.  They’re mesh, not particles, so they don’t contribute to the kinds of rendering issues and lag (and annoyance) that particle generators can.  They do attach to the body, so they move somewhat rigidly about you, but depending on your use they look absolutely wonderful.  They worked well for my dances at the party!

It’s always lovely when a creator puts together an amazing outfit… but I really love that feeling of putting together pieces from here and there to create your own individualised look.

on a midsummer’s night

“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”

This lovely little mesh outfit is offered as a group gift at Rowena’s Designs.  The Fairy Dress is a mesh outfit including wings, and has a five-colour HUD to fit your tastes.  The top, skirt, and wings are rigged as a single piece, and cannot be worn independently.

The wings are static and unscripted, but have a beautiful semi-transparent texture.  They, too, have colour-change options that subtly tint the multicolour iridescent texture.  The lovely Forest Edge mask from Spyralle has a HUD for six different leaf colours and four stem colours!

Stop by Rowena’s Designs and pick up The Fairy Dress, and take a look around at all the other pretties!

“Know but this and all is mended.
That you have but slumbered here,
While these visions did appear,
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding, but a dream.”

whispers on the night air

Caverna Obscura recently celebrated their 10th anniversary in-world, and to celebrate, Elvina Ewing created a Anais, a dream in golden silk.  This was a one-day only gift, so I fear that I can’t send you to Caverna looking for it — but I can send you to Caverna to look at all the wonderful things that Elvina is creating.  She’s long been a source for amazing outfits, and her more recent forays into fitmesh do not disappoint!

Anais comes in several variations, sheer and opaque depending on how brazen you would like to be… or how revealing.  Either way, Elvina lets you be your sultriest.

Get yourself to Caverna Obscura  and check out all the lovely pretties for your fae, your arabian nights, or whatever your fantasy might be.

A dream of djinni

Okay, I love Susanne Vega, so this must makes me grin a LOT.

I’ve been very excited to share this outfit with you!  A wonderful friend gave me a beautiful birthday gift: Genie, a beautiful mesh outfit from Caverna Obscura, and I’ve been anxious to show you all!

Genie is glorious.  It’s available in Maitreya and Slink fitmesh, and available in three different colours: the purple shown here, black, and gold.  All three are beautifully tempting, and while I deliberated,  I had to choose purple.  🙂

Each colour comes in two versions: the transparent one, and an opaque if you wish to be a little more discrete.

Genie is a perfect opportunity for to show off Nefertiti, the beautiful kohl from [GA.EG].

Caverna Obscura has always had beautiful outfits, and I’m so happy to see their outfits now in mesh-body-friendly fitmesh.  Please stop by and take a look!  Please note that Caverna offers a demo for Genie, but all of the outfit components are locked together.  In the full version, each of the components may be worn independently!

Autumn moon

Sometimes I have an item in my inventory that I rather like – but I just don’t seem to be able to find the right outfit to put it with.  It sits there lurking in the background, maybe even prompting the “should I get rid of it?” thoughts when I come across it.

Well, Owl Moon by Spyralle was one of those for me, until a week ago.  Eden was holding our Autumn Queen dance, and I thought of this gown — and with a few ingenious additions, put together an outfit that I can’t wait to wear again and again!

septembermoon_c008

Owl Moon is a lovely mesh gown (rigged mesh in the standard five sizes), and I’ll admit, part of the problem in my inventory may be my love to dance — and the… awkwardness… of some mesh gowns for dancing.  Well, part of that, of course, is to choose your dances appropriately.  Some shuffle-y dances from Humanoid did just the trick for me!

The wreath of daisies from Caverna Obscura accentuates the oranges and greens, as do a fire opal pendant and earrings from Evelock.septembermoon_c009

For the dance itself, I added a beautiful pair of wings from Faeline Fairy — because sometimes everyone needs to unfurl their wings.  Shigeko come in a several colour schemes, but the oranges and purples just seemed made for Owl Moon September.

septembermoon_c002

So, lessons? Go back and look at your inventory with fresh eyes, you might find new and exciting ways to use things — whether they’re old favourites or items you’ve never worn.  And don’t get rid of that pretty outfit just because you haven’t worn it yet, no matter how long you’ve had it!  😉

And go take a look at Spyralle — Owl Moon comes in a number of beautiful patterns!
