Happy Weekend, all!  Mahalo!  A hui hou!

Two for one

More Womenstuff hunt prizes, but today you get two designers for the price of one!

shorts & tank_003

The shorty shorts are by FashionNatic, and come in standard size rigged mesh and have fitmesh sizes for Maitreya, and Slink Hourglass and Physique.  I’m nearly a perfect size S, but you can see just a little clipping in the next picture, even though these are Maitreya fitmesh.  But under normal circumstances, everything is good.  If you were really worried, you could play with your shape a little to eliminate it.

The detail on them is fantastic.  And so is the detail on the tank top by StormCrow Design.  The hunt gift is a single color, but it comes in-store in a wide range of colors.  It’s also in standard sizes with fitmesh versions for Maitreya, Belleza Freya, Isis, and Venus, TMP, and Slink Hourglass and Physique.  It also comes with a 10 texture HUD to allow you to change the colors on the metal accents!

Evening Breeze

As the sun lowers, the cool breezes sweep in down from the mauna, we’ll trade our kinis and pareos for a mu’umu’u or a nice dress…. and Spyralle has a perfect little treat in Five O’Clock.

FiveOclock_c002

Five O’Clock is mesh in the five standard sizes, and has a lovely little flexi piece that fastens at the left hip with a little rosette.  It gives nice little flow to the gown as you walk or dance!

FiveOclock_c010

I complemented Five O’Clock with a lovely necklace and earring set from *N@N@* that I don’t get enough opportunity to wear, but the turquoise and gold works well with the peacock colours.

FiveOclock_c005

Five O’Clock is an older dress, but it fits well and looks great.  Kerryth currently has it in the outlet room at Spyralle, so you can pick up this lovely dress at a substantial discount!

Not a poodle skirt

Every now and then we get invited to a 50s/60s party.  One of our friends loves DJing this type of music (you know who you are hehe).  Aeon has a poodle skirt, but I didn’t have one as it’s one of the few “standard” outfits I’ve never come across as a freebie, and I sort of can’t bring myself to buy one 🙂

So this is not a poodle skirt 🙂

The skirt and top are all one piece fitmesh for Lara, and also come in standard sizes fitmesh and specific sizes for Belleza and Slink too.

Skin-tight

I’m a big fan of clothing that plays well with a mesh body.  Certainly the top-of-the-pops is the more recent trend in mesh-body-specific fitmesh (yes, I do a little squeeeee when a product comes out in Slink Fitmesh) — but appliers certainly can be great as well.  Fitmesh gives that three-dimensional texture which is (to me) preferable, but a well-done applier can be fantastic with a skin-tight outfit.  Luana, the latest group gift from *It’s Gau*, is a great example!

Luana_c004

Now, time for a little pet peeve.   Maybe you’ve run into this problem –my avi height is a fair bit above normal for RL (1.95 m/6’3″), yet many designers make mesh for avis that are clearly much much larger.  This outfit comes with a lovely set of armlets and bracelets, each of which have resizer scripts – but while the minimum size of the armlets is not bad, the minimum size for the bracelets is at least twice as big as they need to be to fit!  Now, I don’t think that my wrists are ridiculously small, but that’s just silly.  Now, having made mesh, I understand that there are limits to shrinking certain mesh sizes, but there are some clever ways around that.  Any mesh maker worth their pixels really should remember that not everyone in SL is a giantess!

I don’t know how long Luana will be at *It’s Gau*, but stop by and take a look!

Butterflies and Lace

This gown looks incredible.  It’s another prize from the Womenstuff hunt, which is now sadly closed.  I hope you didn’t miss out.

gold butterflies and lac_003

The outfit comes with a modesty layer and a clothing layer (both in system and appliers for Omega, Slink, Maitreya, and Belleza), the flexi-prim gown, and the matching heels.  Also included is the chain armlet.

It’s funny, but only a few weeks ago, I would have had nothing negative to say about something a beautiful as this.  It dances divinely, and looks elegant and sexy.  I would have happily worn it out dancing to Franks or a ball at Eden.  However, now we have jellydolls.  And this outfit including my hairstyle comes in at a render complexity of over 462,000.

Based on anecdotal evidence from people I’ve talked to with a range of graphics cards, a SWAG would be that wearing this would have you rendered as a jellydoll for over half the people at Franks.

It’s sure lovely to photograph though!

The Importance of Colour

It sounds silly — and obvious — but sometimes all it takes is the right colour to really make an outfit come alive for you.  Months ago I’d blogged Esyld by Spyralle – a lovely gown/dress in some very lovely earth tones.  Quite pretty, but… I’ll admit, I never really wore it much after that.  The colour was nice, but… it didn’t speak to me.  Just last week, however, Kerryth put the green version of Esyld on 50L special — and now it sings.

  • Maxi Gossamer JewelryShell Teardrop Pendant (short) and Earrings, Sea Green
  • [L.Warwick] – Savannah Ankle Strapped Heels – Noir Leather
  • ProPoseGroup Gift September 2016

I’m still not quite sure whether to think of Esyld as a gown or as a dress.  Maybe it’s really a skirt with an interesting bustier.  The laced back detail is really rather amazing, and it has this lovely little gauzy overskirt in the rear.  It’s all mesh, so there’s no flutter, but it adds a lovely touch.

EssyldGreen_c008

I had been a bit at odds for jewelry to complement Esyld.  My first thought was something nice and angular, lots of curly filigree certainly wasn’t the right touch.    I happened to stumble on this lovely abalone necklace and earrings from Maxi Gossamer Jewelry.  While it’s not angular, somehow it works.
EssyldGreen_c002

It’s a pleasure when you look at an outfit and just think yes.   Sometimes you have to find the right colour, sometimes it’s the hairstyle, or the jewelry, or the shoes.  And then — then you hit that magic combination, and all those components come together and it just feels right.

That’s when these pictures are an absolute joy to take.

Now — I don’t know how long Kerryth will have Esyld green on special, so it’s worth swinging by.  At this price, it’s too good to pass up!
